Orienteering race (Day 6 - Glen Affric N) 1:12:00 [5]
shoes: Mudclaw 300 b/r

Enjoyed this.
Big error overshooting 4 and smaller ones at 7 and 12. Still not feel to be running 100% though.
Loved the area.

Warm up/down 30:00 [3]
shoes: Mudclaw 300 b/r

To the start....also having walked a fair bit of the way from Tomich to the arena.

Note

A good week but orienteered poorly generally. Disappointing from that perspective.

Orienteering (Day 5 Glen Affric S) 55:00 [3]
shoes: Mudclaw 300 b/r

The opportunity to view a WOC Classic race at first hand in Scotland took precedence today.

...hence baled on a course and area I wasn't enjoying and went to watch the big screen. In normal circumstances probably would have persisted though.

Number 1 was unsatisfactory although I probably lost less time than others. It didn't get things off to a good start. Mindset was wrong from then on and didn't enjoy anything about 2,3,4 and 5 including a huge error at 3 where I tried to save seconds by cutting through green but couldn't find the white forest on the other side. Finally the terrain for the long 5-6 was pretty awful so preferred to go and watch bobach and georgiou. Glad I did.

One of those days. It happens. I can choose the days and areas I want to orienteer in now....new race tomorrow. Great sport.

Orienteering (Day 4 Darnaway) 53:00 [3]
shoes: Mudclaw 300 b/r

Mystified by this one.
Didn't feel great running but still thought run was ok..until viewing results. A few misses including trying to go direct when I should have just path run but still thought it hadn't been so bad.

Perhaps put it down to an off day.

Orienteering (Day 3 Darnaway) 36:00 [3]
shoes: Mudclaw 300 b/r

Poor run. No excuses.
Jethro starting 2 mins behind I should be able to cope with...but didn't. Running very well but orienteering very badly. Trying to go too quickly. Made 5-6 minutes worth of mistakes including 2 mins at second last where, unseen, Jethro went past me.
Disappointing.

Orienteering race (Day 2 - Strathfarrar) 48:01 [5]
shoes: Mudclaw 300 b/r

Tired beforehand but a middle start time which was definitely way better than an early one.

Incredulous at the amount of bracken to 1..tracks or no tracks. Felt to be running well but two misses of note. Mislaid my map but think they were 6 and 14. 3 minutes total I guess. Lost concentration on both.

Looking forward to the rest of the week.

Orienteering (Achagour Day 1) 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Mudclaw 300 b/r

Waking up lots of controls in the light green and grassland early on, then taking in pretty much the same ones after.

Note

Very long day.
Sunshine; 5000+ folk; about 40 courses; 130+ controls; all done and dusted pretty much by 1830. Lots of positive comments about Ali and Frasers courses and the area. Mainly smooth operation..especially for day 1.Thanks all who helped and all who came.
= a very good day.

Collecting controls in the grassland close by afterwards when all was quiet, with no one else about seemed strangely peaceful and somewhat surreal. Not how it was just an hour before. Amazing to see the elephant tracks too. A real race track. Not sure what the archery folk will think of it all in their part when they see the new path network.

Third of the three: Balmoral (O), Balnagowan(P) and Achagour(C) done in 10 months. Happy with that.

Now for some competition.
