Warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Twister (2)

Warm up to start at Rannoch
2 PM

Orienteering race (SOC Rannoch) 59:28 [4] 7.0 km (8:30 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister (2)

Steady all the way but really focussed well. Wobbles at 8 and 9 losing a total of 50s probably. Lost a minute on the hill up to 16, although not quite sure why, then 30s at 19. Realistically probably lost 2 mins total but very pleased nevertheless. 5th, 1 mins 40 down.

Orienteering 50:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Twister (2)

Picking up controls from Bogendreip. Orienteered much better this time but it's still a pretty rough place at the east end amongst the brashings.

Got Jukola training maps today - great stuff.

Strangely tired.

Orienteering 50:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Twister (2)

MAROC training at Bogendreip east end. Found it really difficult, maybe a mix of the forest workings making the going extra tough together with the vegetation vagueness. Whatever, I wasn't very good.

Trail / Road Run 39:30 [3]
shoes: Cumulus II

Don't know if it was down to the weekend and the road pounding that the legs took but today was tough. Chilly, slow and tough round Hazlehead. Felt better afterwards.
8 PM

Note

Took a wee jaunt out to check on a control tape for an upcoming event. Just helping out the controller.

Not enough..
10 AM

Road Running (Baker Hughes 10K) 39:50 [3] 10.0 km (3:59 / km)
ahr:176 max:184 shoes: Cumulus II

Knew it would be painful and it was.
Started off too fast and suffered somewhat from 6k onwards. Ideal conditions though - very little breeze and warm enough...light rain.
2k in 7:20, 5k in 19:20 and slower after.
Got cuffed by DG by about 1 minute but happy enough.

100th/3044, 6th o/50 (1st o/50 was 5th in 33:46!)
Met John Robertson at the finish - probably last saw him about 30+ years ago when both running for the Uni Haries. He always beat me then, didn't today, got him by 27 seconds..:-)
