Orienteering (Scotjos Faskally) 50:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Twister (2)

Scotjos w/e at Faskally. Control hanging, collecting and coaching plus a short intervals session.
Having not been sure this would be on it came as a real bonus to find Faskally almost bereft of snow so the strong show of support and effort put in by almost everyone meant a really good turnout. The reward was clearly some really good snow free O for a change and a good intro to Scotjos for a lot of the youngsters with the oldies setting a really good example.

Coaching CG, CN and RP.

Orienteering race (DNC12 Crathes) 25:00 [3] 3.0 km (8:20 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister (2)

Arrived late after taking 90minutes to get home and plenty more pushing cars up our street so in deference to the organiser and the curry ran the short course.

Lovely fresh snow - the tracks no doubt helped but great fun to end a top notch and amazingly snowy series....and equally amazingly all 12 races went ahead..well done folks.

Warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Twister (2)

With K after Crathes DNC. Lovely run in the snow.

Trail / Road Run 42:30 [3] 8.5 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Icebugs

Was going to make this at a decent tempo but felt most unlike doing that so it turned into some mindless miles. The upside though was it was a cracking day in Aberdeen and with reasonable snow on a lot of the tracks at Hazlehead it was just great to be out. Fair bit of ice testified to by the guy on a bike who totally wiped out 2 secs after passing me. I would put bike pigdekks on before venturing out on that stuff on two wheels.

Some hamstring tenderness after Sunday.

Warm up/down 15:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Twister (2)

Bitterly cold out of the bright sunshine, -8 at home. W/u on the way up to the start from Potarch Green. Cracking day on Deeside.

Orienteering race (MAROC Ballogie) 1:14:09 [4] *** 8.6 km (8:37 / km) +175m 7:50 / km
spiked:14/18c shoes: VJ Twister (2)

Had RH starting just behind.
Stood beside no1 not seeing the marker in the snow so faffed about. Bit of a banana to 2 and slightly to right of 3 where RH nearly caught me. Slow on the short leg to 4 then took right hand route to 5 whereas left might have been quicker. Certainly RH seemed to be almost level when we met again after he'd gone that way. Pulled away to 6 and then didn't see him again after long slog uphill to 7. Clean from there on in except very slow through not reading control descriptions at 13.

Overall pleased enough, perhaps 3 minutes lost, mainly early on..seemed to be running ok. Lovely running in the snow but tough.
