Mtn Bike 1:04:00 [3] 15.0 km (4:16 / km)

Took a break from Coull control descriptions and other such exciting stuff and nipped out for a quick spin on the Hill of Fare. Never biked up there before as Dunecht Estates were always very anti mtn bikers. Went from Hotel West Lodge, 30 mins pretty hard effort up to the high point then round the usual foot circuit on the top, coming back via the small quarry to the east of the hotel. Nice day for it. Not another soul around.

Trail / Road Run 36:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Cumulus

Hazlehead. Needed to get last night out of legs and lungs. Hopefully did that.

Warm up/down 5:00 [3]

Not nearly enough -lazy.

Trail / Terrain Run race (DR Handicap Corsedardar) 22:32 [5]
shoes: Asics Cumulus

Felt dreadful.
OK until about half way up, and then started to suffer near to the cairn when AS went past. Big Jon went past not long after on the way down and once Matt and Robbie had done the same, it dawned on me 50m after the first gate that there was no-one behind me, and I'd better go and latch it..so went back..that was the final straw. Limped down (metaphorically speaking) after that..very tempted to disappear into wood and lie down.

Not one of my better ones. Fortunately I feel better now as i've had a beer.

Trail / Road Run 25:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Trail Sensor

Slow..round the fields, didn't really get to Hazlehead

Gym 35:00 [3]
shoes: Reebok Premier RoadPlus

Usual weights circuit and a lot of stretching.

Note

Must have removed 12 ticks in the last two days - mainly from Coull I think so be warned.

Note

Yet another trip, and certainly not the last, to the local physio. Think this family keeps Deesides best in business. Now main races are over need to finally get to the bottom of the ongoing issues with this particular offspring!

Orienteering race (MAROC Cambus O'May) 1:15:33 [3] 7.5 km (10:04 / km) +265m 8:34 / km
shoes: VJ Twister (2)

Was going to run Blue in deference to sensitive aged ankles but got shamed into tilting at the Brown by a variety of people. Glad I did - cracking place, cracking course, but sore ankles as a reward from the boulder fields.

Missed badly at 1 (2-3 mins) after wondering where the start kite was - got caught at 1 by M H-J; lost another minute at 4 including very roundabout route choice; visited 16 on the way to 5 (at least another minute) and dithered badly at 6. Things got much better after that. Caught M H-J again at 8, briefly, and passed him somewhere 9-10 and didn''t see him again. No other mistakes through to 22. Felt to be running well again but too many early mistakes.

Feel more motivated now.

PS: Having seen the splits maybe I lost more than I thought..or just ran slower than I thought!

Terrain 40:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Twister (2)

Tired after Cambus but another 2 hours of site tagging in Coull. Quite a few trail bikes out on the tracks - hmmm, maybe in that case we can drive in there for control deployment.

First ever win for Scotland at JIRCS!!!!..or was it 2nd?
