Orienteering race 51:00 [4] 6.3 km (8:06 / km)
shoes: Asics Cumulus

Great course, really tricky, shame about the calf. Felt sharp pain before the start and knew the sensible thing was not to run. Didn't pay much attention to that though. Felt it all the way round so never gave it 100%. Hope its not too bad. Rest it on a transatlantic flight tomorrow morning anyway. Pretty dumb really!

Pretty clean apart from one major hesitation and change of mind (30s) and one very poor route choice late on (40s). Maybe some other smallish route choice errors and hesitations. Just sorry not to be able to go harder.

Swim 50:00 [3]

Very long day at work. Then got persuaded to give moral support to K in the swimming pool (and give her a lift)....not often I swim for an hour..must be many years..and probably only 50 mins worth really. Got lapped many times by guess who, but getting better.

Warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Twister

Before and after Inchmarnoch.

Orienteering race 38:28 [4] **** 5.1 km (7:33 / km)
spiked:12/13c shoes: VJ Twister

The north part of Inchmarnoch has turned into a great wee area. If only there weren't the fences and the road, with the hill the whole place would be fantastic..just need somewhere to park too.

Lots of people, SEDs included, overwhelmed the organisation but not sure anyone minded too much. Just a small amount of competition on the longest green course. Seemed like a chasing start with folk heading off at short intervals - kept seeing folk which was fun.

Stomach a bit iffy but went pretty well: tentative to 1 and 2, wrong depression at 3, then 4 & 5 good, great running along the ridge above the River Dee to 6, then 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 pretty smooth, with some hesitation at 12 before no problems with 13.

He might be younger, he might be fitter, and have better eyesight and might be pretty good but not sure I can get my mind round how Scotia could do it in 27-28. Unbeleivable. No idea what other folk did.

Later:
SF: 27:35
9th/50 happy enough given the folk there.
