Trail 55:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 31 - blue/black

Once the hail had eased, from Craobhach up to the steading at Torquhandallochy. Round some of the fields up there admiring the views. Back into Potties wood on the north side, then a loop on the tracks via the trig point and back to the steading and down.

S&C 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Progrid (Orange)

Usual routines including jog down and back.

Wednesday May 27, 2015 #

Warm up/down 5:00 [3]
shoes: ORoc 340

On the road at Dunnotar.
6 PM

Orienteering race (Gramp evening event) 42:05 [5] 5.92 km (7:07 / km) +210m 6:02 / km
ahr:160 shoes: ORoc 340

A new format on me.
Essentially as many times round a 2.4k course as you could get in 45 minutes. Enjoyed it although it seemed a bit weird. Managed 2.3 times (23 controls) although should have gone for the next two as well. Error of judgement.
Legs good, felt to be running well. No knee issues on the steep slippery slopes.

Trail / Road Run 1:02:14 [3] 11.1 km (5:36 / km) +167m 5:13 / km
ahr:154 shoes: Pegasus 31 - blue/black

Loch of Leys, Drumshalloch, down to the DW, then Platties, KGV, and back via Captains Wood. Experienced a new psychotic buzzard in Drumshalloch.

Felt good. Still some minor knee irritation, probably just inflammation as a result of mileage quantity last week.
Lovely sunshine.

Monday May 25, 2015 #

Note

more stane carrying and a wee jog. Not sufficiently taxing to call training.

Sunday May 24, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Plenty busy carting stones.

Saturday May 23, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Another day of recuperation

Friday May 22, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Very pleased to help in guiding a good group across, and really enjoy the whole "Run Across Scotland". Nice to come out of it in good shape too without significant damage as something like this is often a bit unknown. A couple of rest days will hopefully sort the right knee. Hopefully sets things up nicely for other things in the next couple of months.

Trail 4:00:00 [3] 28.35 km (8:28 / km) +733m 7:30 / km
ahr:127 max:156 shoes: Pegasus 30 (blue/grey)

Morvich, Balmacara, Kyle, Skye Bridge.
West coast weather day. Rain but not much wind to be fair.
Left knee niggle acquired yesterday probably generated other aches and pains when favouring it. Generally all good though.
Really great few days.

Wednesday May 20, 2015 #

Trail 4:30:00 [3] 34.35 km (7:52 / km) +680m 7:09 / km
ahr:127 max:153 shoes: Pegasus 30 (blue/grey)

Affric cp; Athnamullach; Alltbeithe YH; lunch at Camban; Allt Grannda; Glen Lichd; Morvich. Rucsac today.
Good weather with no wind and barely a spot of rain. A good pace too.
Legs in great shape considering. Well pleased.
Another excellent day.

Tuesday May 19, 2015 #

Trail 1:45:00 [3] 15.0 km (7:00 / km) +350m 6:16 / km
shoes: Pegasus 31 - blue/black

Tomich to Affric car park. Great scenery. So much snow on the hills for the time of year.
"Easy day".

Monday May 18, 2015 #

ahr:122 max:149 shoes: Pegasus 31 - blue/black

Good weather again.
Sitting in the river after certainly has helped the legs.
Good day.

Sunday May 17, 2015 #

Trail 4:10:00 [3] 34.0 km (7:21 / km) +500m 6:51 / km
ahr:133 max:175 shoes: Pegasus 31 - blue/black

Friday May 15, 2015 #

Orienteering race (Dress Forest Sprint) 23:09 [5] 2.9 km (7:59 / km) +85m 6:58 / km
shoes: ORoc 340

Enjoyed this. Felt to be running well, but still lost too many 20s, possibly more than that. At 1, 8 and 10. Saw lots of folk on the way round, just the way it was intended to be.
A long way behind JC (17.54 I think), but not so far behind JR and more importantly in front of BobD (I hope).

Warm up/down 5:00 [3]
shoes: ORoc 340

Thursday May 14, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Sat in the garden with a beer looking at maps for Run Across Scotland. That's how rest days are meant to be, right?
(Having finished painting the front door and the windows, and having mowed the lawn.))

Wednesday May 13, 2015 #

Trail / Terrain Run 1:03:58 [3]
shoes: ORoc 340

Up the track from Craiglash Quarry as far as the Warlock Stone then wandered about in the higher and nicest bits of Sluie. The longer the bracken holds off the better.

Tuesday May 12, 2015 #

Orienteering 45:00 [3]
shoes: ORoc 340

Checking tags at Achagour. Heavens opened the minute I got in the car to come home. Out for about 3 hours total.

Note

Came back through Ballater. Sad remains of the station.

Monday May 11, 2015 #

S&C 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Progrid (Orange)

Usual...although tempted to skip it having been moving more stones in the sunshine..more like boulders today.

Sunday May 10, 2015 #

Orienteering 45:00 [3]
shoes: ORoc 340

Collecting WOC training controls at Shooting Greens after MAROC training. Extra loop for distance.
Rucksac and running over dressed.
Damp but enjoyable.

Saturday May 9, 2015 #

Note

Shifting stones. Some big ones.

Friday May 8, 2015 #

Trail 1:37:51 [3] 12.35 km (7:55 / km) +780m 6:01 / km
ahr:139 max:173 shoes: Pegasus 31 - blue/black

Nice afternoon. Slow and steady four times up Scolty, a different up and down route each time. Very enjoyable just taking things easy.
Feeling happier now about what's coming up in the next 6 weeks.

Thursday May 7, 2015 #

Trail 54:43 [3] 9.77 km (5:36 / km) +82m 5:22 / km
ahr:150 shoes: Pegasus 31 - blue/black

Thought about Cambus Canters but decided on something a mite longer at a slower pace was called for. Round Loch Kinord with T, shuttling to and fro actually. Felt really good. Lovely route round there.
Light as I've been for a good while.

Wednesday May 6, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Feel like one.

Tuesday May 5, 2015 #

S&C 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Progrid (Orange)

Usual and a good day for stopping inside.

Note

Calf problem seems to have gone and hamstring niggle is almost certainly just that. So all good. Pleased to get a couple of decent length runs in in Norway along with everything else.

Monday May 4, 2015 #

Trail 2:01:22 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 31 - blue/black

Not quite such a good weather day but passable.
From c's: road and track to Vagleskogen. Wandered the very pleasant undulating tracks, and unlit lysloype for a while; crossed the 505 onto Bogafjell map following main track; then took some steep small paths up to Vagletjorn and up Bogafjell. Dropped down a somewhat overgrown track to the forest road; returned through the sheep field and houses, and round Stokkalandsvatnet. Nice run.
Tired and with a bit of a hamstring niggle.

Sunday May 3, 2015 #

Walk 45:00 [2]

Should have bought a lottery ticket. In the normal scheme of things would have been at the SOL at Glen Dye in the all the weather that there was there. Instead another day of tourist brochure west coast Norway sun.
Out for 2.5 hours back down to Nes in the company of c and Jarl and his dog.

Trail 20:00 [4]
shoes: Pegasus 31 - blue/black

Round Stokkelandsvatnet. Bit of a breeze on the way out. Felt good.

Saturday May 2, 2015 #

Note

At Viglandsdalhytta. No cloud. Lovely sun but too much snow to go further up to Stakkan. Hence good quality r&r much of it perched on a boulder the size of a white van admiring the mountain scenery with a good book. Very pleasant it was too.

Note

Took a wander up amongst the huge boulders on the steep slope at the back of the hytta. Nice views from higher up.

Friday May 1, 2015 #

Walk 45:00 [3]

From Nes up to Viglandsdalhytta with c.
2.5 hours.
