Thursday Oct 30, 2014 #

S&C 50:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Progrid (Orange)

Well overdue.
Somewhat weary after yesterday.

Wednesday Oct 29, 2014 #

Trail 2:51:00 [3] 23.86 km (7:10 / km) +800m 6:08 / km
shoes: Pegasus 30 (blue/grey)

Great day for a long run in the hills after all the wind and rain. Still and clear.

From Loch Muick car park up the Broad Cairn track and then down the steep path to the waterfall in Glen Clova. Along the River South Esk and then up the steep Capel Mounth path and back across to Loch Muick. With SarahD.
A long time since I've run for this length of time and it felt much better than I dared hope. Really enjoyable run.

No competition for Sarah in the length of time I could sit in the "icy" waters of the River Muick afterwards.

Orienteering 50:00 [3]
shoes: XTalon 212

Pottering at Potties for MAROC training at the weekend. Wet and not too nice. Out for 75 or so.

Monday Oct 27, 2014 #

Note

Busy day ..Edinburgh / Dundee

Sunday Oct 26, 2014 #

Trail 32:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 30 (blue/grey)

"Swedish" forest. 15 mins in and drained. Very slow back.

Saturday Oct 25, 2014 #

Trail 51:00 [4]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

From Loch an Eilein visitor centre round the Lochan Mor loop, seeing no-one, then round the Loch an Eilein loop, seeing hundreds of folk on their Saturday walk. Bees, honeypots sprang to mind. Kept the tempo high for the duration of both. Felt good. Great scenery.

Friday Oct 24, 2014 #

Walk 1:30:00 [2]

Sgor Gaoith from Balachcroick just south of Lagganlia. Very windy it definitely was. Cold. Ptarmigan, a hare, woodcock and reindeer. Didn't see a thing from the top. Out for a bit less than 5. With T.

Thursday Oct 23, 2014 #

Trail 1:31:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

Pre-breakfast round Loch Morlich with T then loop up to An Lochan Uaine on my own with extra 2k diversion through ineptitude.

Walk 30:00 [2]

Dusk. Stomp up to Cairngorm Club bridge through Rothiemurchus. Out for 2 hours. Nice colours and no one about.

Wednesday Oct 22, 2014 #

Walk 1:00:00 [3]

Aborted trip up into the Cairbgorm plateau from Coire na Ciste..way too windy unfortunately. Meall a'Buchaille loop via Ryvoan instead. Still windy. With T. Out for 3.30 ish

Monday Oct 20, 2014 #

Trail 29:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

Pleasant spin round Glen O'Dee with c. Decent tempo for me.

Sunday Oct 19, 2014 #

Warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: XTalon 212

Forvie before.

Warm up/down (Forvie Blue) 40:40 [3] 5.2 km (7:49 / km) +125m 6:59 / km

Focused very well. No misses. Cleanest run for a good while.
Caught AndyL two minutes at 4 after having seen him ahead from 2. Then caught JakeC at 10 after he'd made mistakes. Kept him from gaining more than 40s by the finish. That's ok.

Saturday Oct 18, 2014 #

Note

Balmoral.
Good day.
Great Maroc effort (+significant others). Really enjoyed the day.
Fun to see two "kids" reminding themselves what orienteering is on W-E and M-E.

Friday Oct 17, 2014 #

Note

Another day at the Queens summer residence.
Looking good.

Thursday Oct 16, 2014 #

Note

Tired.
Delivering kit and tramping round Balmoral. Dreich day but still good.

Wednesday Oct 15, 2014 #

Trail 1:02:00 [3]
shoes: XTalon 212

Needed out.
Scotly cp north and then normal tracks, then new mtn bike tracks and furthest west route up to the Scolty col, then top; down the front and up again the next west way. Down the "deer gate".

Nice morning between the showers. Felt really strong on both "ups". Looking good for the race on Saturday.....oh damn.

Tuesday Oct 14, 2014 #

S&C 1:00:00 [3]

RM circuits doubling up as Active Aberdeenshire gym induction.

Note

Brain getting frazzled....

Monday Oct 13, 2014 #

S&C 1:00:00 [3]

RM session in Aboyne. Hard especially after the weekend.

Sunday Oct 12, 2014 #

Warm up/down race 10:00 [5]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

To start in Stirling

Orienteering (RTC Stirling - Blue) 52:49 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

Brilliant.
Cracked the first 6 in the castle pretty well but was very slow on the exit leg. One or two other dubious route choices but happy enough.

Note

Excellent weekend although somewhat limited on the sleep front as a result of EUOC 50th and also seriously over indulged at times.

Starting to get some speed in the legs again.

Saturday Oct 11, 2014 #

Warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

To start in Edinburgh

Orienteering race (RTC Edinburgh Blue) 37:58 [5]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

Enjoyed this.
40s binned at 3 - didn't read the detail in the circle well enough and ran up wrong close. Think left hand route to 10 was the slow option. Lost a whole minute on the easiest control by having my map the wrong way round after the steep downhill leg, then another minute by not spotting the underpass to 18 and doing 2 fights of steps unnecessarily.

Thursday Oct 9, 2014 #

Trail 42:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

Dreich. Very laboured for some reason.
Glen O'Dee and Burnett Park.

Wednesday Oct 8, 2014 #

Mtn Bike 1:29:00 [3]

Helium
Hill of Fare loop from west gate.

Lovely change in the weather. Tracks were rivers but wall to wall sunshine.
Ground out the initial uphill to the high point in 38 then just had an easy ride enjoying the scenery from there.

A few more swathes of trees being extracted from the Gramp map.

Tuesday Oct 7, 2014 #

Warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

Drills in the flooded Aboyne car park. Fun. Then short easy warm up.

Intervals 34:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

Might have dipped out of this Deeside Runners session if It hadn't been on the way back from a meeting at Balmoral.

Aboyne Green underwater so back to the streets. Reminded me of the lethal nature of nipping on and off pavements following route of the old session. Puddles everywhere and still raining. Impressed to see Megan, Abi, Jenny and Robbie out in it. About 15 mental cases in all.

17 ( for JennyRs birthday) x 1/1. Going ok but very very wary in the conditions.

Monday Oct 6, 2014 #

S&C 1:00:00 [3]

RM session in Aboyne. Well worth it. Worked a few bits that hadn't been for a good while.

Sunday Oct 5, 2014 #

Trail 1:29:30 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

Needed a good run after having resolved (I hope) the frustrations of last 48 hours.
With T from Cambus through to Braehead of Tullich. Then back to the loch, then on my own a good way uphill out into the open towards Morven. Didn't fancy going off path today so back the same way. Handy gel after an hour.

Deeside colours changing fast.

Saturday Oct 4, 2014 #

Trail / Terrain Run 38:38 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

Tilquhillie with T late on.
12 x 30s hill reps included. Drizzling but pleasant.
Feeling good.

Friday Oct 3, 2014 #

Mtn Bike 1:36:00 [3]

XTC
Thought this would be windy, wet and maybe cold. None of those apart from a bit damp at the end.

Home, Scolty cp, up to Shooting Greens, a loop up the top, then Slewdrum and drop down to the Dee. Back direct. Nice.

Thursday Oct 2, 2014 #

Note

Job done :-)

Trail / Road Run 39:40 [3]
shoes: Pegasus 29 (red)

Down to The Platties and then along the Dee to the end of the railway track, then back home via Hill of Banchory woods. Felt good in more ways than one.

And now onto doing something about that small race in two weeks time.
