Went well to 5 and then knew taking the beach route to 6 was a risk. Couldn't work out when to cut back in and the race was over. Going through the motions from 7 onwards. Least enjoyable day of the week for me. Disappointing.

Achilles very sore on way to start and didn't improve too much. Strangely felt much better in the evening though.

Enjoyed this but disappointed to be toiling towards the end physically. Dibber strap fell apart half way round so just held it in my hand and description holder not big enough so faffed about about a bit over last few controls. A few minor misses. Happy enough at finish but destroyed by later starters.

What might have been I suppose. Started and finished well but fell apart at 6, 9 and 10. Rot set in when I got a bend in motorbike path wrong at 6. Lost 7-8 mins on those three and plummeted to 48th by 10. Scrambled back some respectability over the vague stuff.
Positive: felt to be running really strongly in spite of achilles nagging away.

Visited some of the worst bits of Scolty and not many of the best.
Pluses
- Achilles with OROCs fine.
- Gradually got into it.
- Orienteering well in bits
- Survived with no injuries
- Good to get a little more Orienteering in before next week even though there can't be much that is less like sand-dunes.

Minuses
- The control on the stream in the green. 5 mins leg turned into 15. Probably my fault though :-)
- Reminded me of Oslo orienteering at its worst
- Still not feeling very spritely
- Not a very inspiring course

Crash course in Orienteering.
Glen Dye. Most of a Blue from 2010. Warm. Not been in terrain enough and found out by the bilberry bushes and heather. Tough. Migraine later. Didn't wear O shoes as didn't want to irritate achilles - positive outcome. Orienteering ok but heavy legged and running seemed disappointingly hard, perhaps not surprising though.
Bilberries aplenty.

3480m. Leh, slightly easier but still mighty tough on the breathing. Out and right. Up to army barracks, right and out for 28 mins. Downhill on the way back. Careful to manage the manic traffic. Rbc count must be higher. Lungs burning.

4539m. From Base of Ganda La down to tea house. 8mins down and 17 back up of which only 5 could claim to be any sort of running. Even then a shuffle. Fast walk the rest. Breathing so difficult. Jogged for 5 mins on the level at the top for some recovery.
