Great. Korean cough.

Walk 1:30:00 [3]

Not feeling great. Probably down to confused time. Hope its nothing more.
With T from Easter Balmoral out to Gelder Shiel then up Conachcraig. Not been up there before. Cracking 360 degree views but especially of Lochnagar. Out for 6 hours.

Lots of chatty police around Easter Balmoral and bumped into the Queen (not literally) driving her Range Rover as we were heading up to the distillery to turn the car round.

22 hours of travel and needed out on such a lovely day. Easy at Mulloch with K. Weary. Shame to miss Scottish but would have opted for the Big Relay if I'd been able anyway.

Road Running 50:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Progrid(Blue)

This was meant to be an 11k run round Singapores Marina Bay. How difficult could that be? Started off from the local answer to the London Eye but after 3 k or so got stuck in a construction area for the Sports hub for Singapore 2014, whatever that is. Got fed up weaving my way in and out of construction fences and storm drains so finally retraced my steps. T shirt was wringing from the 30 deg temps and the rice at lunch wasn't helping. Not a great success although by the time I got back to the Wheel the lights were coming on and the Central Bus District was starting to look spectacular. Not as planned.

Wednesday May 22, 2013 #

Note

No time today either. Frustrated not to get up to the hilly park.

Bullet to Seoul and then evening flight to Singapore.

Tired from sleep deficiency.

Tuesday May 21, 2013 #

Note

No time. Too much Hyundai time though. Really struggling with the jet lag from 8 hour difference.

Monday May 20, 2013 #

Note

More travelling. Bullet train to Ulsan.

Treadmill 33:00 [3]

Walk 15:00 [3]

Up to N Seoul Tower. Was going to run it but too many Sunday afternoon Koreans about. Good decision. Out for 60.

Treadmill 32:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Progrid(Blue)

Didn't fancy Seoul roads so squeezed in about 6k with the middle 4 being sub 4.30 to relieve the boredom.

Trail 1:32:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27

Scolty CP, Blackhall, south side of the Dee then up the single track to the top. Then back the same way. First and last 20 with K. Felt good the whole way and kept a good tempo. Pleased.

Warm up/down 15:00 [3]
shoes: ORoc 340

Before Mulloch Sprint. Of forced length as I forgot my compass and had to go back for it.

Orienteering race (Mulloch Sprint) 20:50 [4] 2.9 km (7:11 / km)
shoes: ORoc 340

Started about 90s after Josh and 30s after Ross. Got close to Ross at 3, and Josh came steaming past at 5 obviously having missed Could see them both ahead until 8 and then Ross came from somewhere at 12. Overshot 10 and lost maybe 30s but no other misses of great significance. Fast and furious agin but no ill effects of the morning run. 2+ mins down on DanG.

Thursday May 16, 2013 #

Note

16 months on from foot op. Left foot now finally settled down to be pretty much as good as right. Best they've been for 4-5 years and a solid years pain free training and more recently some decent competitive effort has been fun. Getting there.

Warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: ORoc 340

Pre BOC Relays

Orienteering 37:00 [5]
shoes: ORoc 340

Dont get to do enough of this.
1st leg of BOC M50 relay. Haven't run a relay for a good while and it showed and hurt.

Good quality 1st leg. Behind PH and KM on my gaffle to 1, couldnt believe the rate PH was going at the start. Took me a lot longer to warm up. Overshot 3, but then others were making mistakes. With RH to 4, then gaffle changed. Saw EH at this point and then missed the path end for 6, at which point PN, RH and EH piled past. The part after the spectator control was pretty much a track run , reeling in GC slowly but finished just behind him EH and PH.
Very scrappy but fun.
TR and KR finished things off for MAROC M50...

Warm up/down 15:00 [3]
shoes: ORoc 340

On the way to the start at Winterfold.

Orienteering race (BOC 2013) 1:10:39 [4]
shoes: ORoc 340

Reckoned top 5 was realistic target today. Reckoned without the straightforward navigation. Ended up 7th. Not displeased given the course. 4mins down on 3rd and 6 on DP. Couldn't have found 4 let alone 6. Generally please with my O except for the route choice on the long leg where I lost 2 mins to DP (17 to 19 mins), although on reflection I'm sure he was running that much faster than me on that leg.
DonP, PN, JC, CD,GC,PH in front.

Later Note: Same route choice as DonP for the long one so bang goes that theory!

Note

Would have made the podium for those north of Watford Gap. Just wait until the 6 Day. And fastest split on the run in.

Friday May 3, 2013 #

Trail / Terrain Run 40:00 [3]
shoes: ORoc 340

Recce in Dess for next weeks forest sprint. K came too. Leisurely.
Strange who you meet in the forest sometimes..JessT, J and A

Thursday May 2, 2013 #

Note

Interesting to reflect on Highlander with the aid of planners "preferred" routes. Need to get out the measuring stick but there seems surprsingly little difference between the B and C if you take into account distance and climb. B is longer ...but there isn't that much of a difference that you could really shake the self same stick at.

Trail / Terrain Run 41:30 [3]
shoes: Saucony Progrid(Blue)

Crathes steady. Still slightly heavy legged but happy with things. Nice evening. Paths and woods in good nick.
