Road Running 1:20:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Progrid(Blue)

Never seen so many runners out at 7 in the morning. They have a portion problem over here but there are an awful lot of folk doing something about it.
Out the Buffalo Bayou as far as Memorial Park and then back the otherside to downtown Houston. Pretty much all hard concrete paths and already 25 degrees at that time in the morning. Made use of the sponsored drinks points that they put out at weekends.

Found it all very tough but seeing the sky high buildings of downtown on the way back meant at least I knew how far was remaining.

Trail 1:21:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27 (b/y)

Crathes trails. Stomach a bit iffy for last half hour.

Sunday Jul 22, 2012 #

Trail 35:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27 (b/y)

Surprised myself by managing to get up post late night revelry. Largely a repeat of Fridays run but too early to go as fast. Needed to be short to make breakfast before heading north.

Note

Managed more running in the last 3 weeks than I thought I would and a bit of biking and snorkeling helped the damage limitation.

Saturday Jul 21, 2012 #

Note

Planned on early morning run but jet lag killed that.

Ceilidhing at J&Js wedding provided some fun exercise. Great do.

Friday Jul 20, 2012 #

Trail 44:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27 (b/y)

Post flight - from Meriden (centre of England) on footpaths. Nice run through fields but was forever opening and closing gates. Out and back at a good tempo.

Thursday Jul 19, 2012 #

Note

Overnight back to Manchester via Panama and Schipol.

Wednesday Jul 18, 2012 #

S&C 45:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27 (b/y)

Been slightly, although not entirely, neglectful of S&C stuff over past couple of weeks, so healthy round of stretches and circuits in room in Quito. Haven't logged some sessions.

Monday Jul 16, 2012 #

Trail / Road Run 1:05:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27 (b/y)

Made it to Tortuga back this time and right along the beach to the secondary swimming bay. Not everyday you get to run amongst iguana, pelicans, crabs, lizards, sea lions, frigate and mocking birds..to name but a few.

Note

Walk from Puerto Ayora to and from the swim bay with T. Out for 2 hours.

Sunday Jul 15, 2012 #

Trail / Road Run 40:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27 (b/y)

From Puerto Ayora out to Tortuga beach. Gate was about to be locked unfortunately but ranger gave me an extra five minutes. Made it to the beach and rapid run back to ensure I wasn't locked in! Nearly tripped over a rat.

Wednesday Jul 11, 2012 #

Mtn Bike 50:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27 (b/y)

To "wall of tears" from Puerto Villamill, Galapagos, with Damian, Avi and Aya...back with T. Rapid on the way out. Avoiding the land tortoises.

Out for 2 hours probably.

Monday Jul 9, 2012 #

Horseriding 30:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27 (b/y)

Out for three hours from Banos - got to be worth some S&C whilst trying to stay on alongst some pretty technical paths on the slopes of Turunguhua volcano. Brilliant.

Out for 3 ish.

Walk 30:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27 (b/y)

Fairly rapid walk up to Bellavista viewpoint with T before heading back to Quito.

Sunday Jul 8, 2012 #

Trail 57:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27 (b/y)

Rain delayed bike so morning run in Banos. Rain had just about stopped by the time I got out. 16 mins straight up the steps to the virgin and then contoured along single track, then final climb up the viewpoint at Bellavista. Brilliant views over the town but still feeling the altitude even at 6000 ft. Back down to the town,

Mtn Bike 2:00:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27 (b/y)

Down the main road and the old road from Banos via the waterfalls. Dodging the traffic in some cases but a lot of fun. Off the bike on a couple of occasions for a trek down to a waterfall and back up again.

Out for 4.

Saturday Jul 7, 2012 #

Note

Walk up to glacier on Cotopaxi. Got to 5012m which at about 16,400 ft is a pb for me. Hard work at that altitude - certainly got the heart rate up. Out for just a couple of hours, Cracking views but a bit of a tourist jaunt.

Trail / Road Run 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Pegasus 27 (b/y)

A slow, but needed, run in Carolina Park, Quito. At 9350 ft and felt it. Not too many other folk running, or breathless jogging like me, but plenty of folk about. Early afternoon and about 23 degrees. Great setting in the Andes.

Note

Long walk back to Old Town via street side coffee shop. Busy streets.
