Cross-Country Skiing (Classic) 1:20:00 [3] 5.7 mi (14:02 / mi)
shoes: Rossignol Backcountry Skis

Skiing with Sam and Presto at Hammond Hill! Spent a good chunk of the day yesterday and all morning today dealing with FedEx. It finally became clear that I wasn't going to miraculously manage to acquire the package this morning, and so we headed off for a fun ski. This was EXACTLY what I needed. It was warm (or at least it was above freezing) and sunny and there weren't too many people out today and we just scooted along. My body definitely prefers exercising when it is in the 30s and 40s and 50s to the 0s and 10s and 20s. I'm not sure if this is a result of so much time in CA or if this was always the case and it just wasn't consistently cold enough in Cambridge for me to determine this fact, but today was exactly what I needed.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching after another afternoon/evening of batting FedEx. Today they told me the package is either already in Ithaca, on a plane directly from Indianapolis to Ithaca (this flight plan does not exist), or definitely still in Indianapolis. The chances of it arriving still frozen are rapidly diminishing.

Running 33:00 [3] 3.6 mi (9:10 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 24

Running with Sam and Presto after not-lab! I spent the entire day battling with FedEx trying to find a Priority Overnight dry ice package that was supposed to arrive this morning and...didn't. I'm afraid that everything in the package will be lost, especially since they cracked the insulating container (inside another box) on an identical shipment that did manage to make it to Cornell today and the dry ice was all sublimating out of the box. I really needed the stress relief of a run by the end of the day, especially after losing a major battle with the customer service phone bot. Good to get out!

Strength 5:00 [3]

Normal abs.

Running 40:00 [3] 4.2 mi (9:31 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 24

Running with Presto after not-lab! Oof. My entire right side is sore, but especially my right shoulder. Running felt a bit weird to start out, but then everything loosened up and it all felt much better. Good to get out!

Normal abs.

Note

I had a pretty cartoon-esque fall while walking Presto this morning. Both my feet just went out from under me, I went airborne, and landed flat on my back. I managed to keep my head from banging into the ground, but I walloped my right elbow pretty badly. I think also my butt, but my elbow sort of took over all the pain sensing when I landed, so I'm not sure. Everything seems basically in working order, but I'm just logging this in case I have any otherwise unexplained aches and pains.

Running 1:25:00 [3] 6.8 mi (12:30 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 24

Running with Presto on the trails around Ithaca! There was a strange glowing orb in the sky today, so I decided we'd better get out for a while to investigate this unusual astronomical occurrence. We ran down to Beebe Lake, around to the Arboretum, and then over to the suspension bridge by Monkey Run. The Monkey Run trails were super fun and gorgeous today with all the sun and snow. The snow was packed enough on the trails in the woods to make running pretty straightforward, but Presto and I were both postholing like crazy on the trails in the field. Presto was quite displeased with this turn of events, and between galumphing through the snow and dragging Presto, I expended a spectacular amount of energy. We popped out onto a road through some corn(?) fields that was sidewalk-less, which wasn't fantastic. No one hit us, but some of the larger trucks didn't seem to really want to make any room for us either. That section wasn't too long, though, and then we were back on sidewalks for the rest of the run home. Aside from the one sidewalk-less section, this is a super fun loop!

Strength 3:30 [3]

Normal abs minus most of the tuckups. My hip flexor started bothering me partway through the first set of tuckups, probably from continuously having to pop my tips out of the snow yesterday, so I skipped most of those and just did crunches.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching.
