Running 45:00 [3] 4.9 mi (9:11 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 24

Running with Presto! We had a bunch of random things to do today and (some fun skyping with friends, some less fun things), so I didn't get out until just before sunset. I'd gotten really cold doing errands today, so I overdressed a bit for the run, which was actually fine. It's good to remind my sweat glands how to work periodically. We ran the full Beebe Lake loop and then down to the suspension bridge. Fun, fun!

Running 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Running in jeans with a backpack. Ugh. I had an in person meeting on campus today, and I apparently haven't quite figured out what I need to actually go to campus yet. I planned to get to lab about an hour early to just spend some time organizing and cataloging the many, many things that were left over from the previous occupants of the lab space. However, as I was getting out of the car, I realized I left my ID at home, so I drove back home, got my ID, and drove back to lab. I still had plenty of time, but now I was starting to get a little closer to the meeting time, so I quickly got out of the car and started heading towards my building. Faculty have to apply for parking permits on campus, but Sam gets a free parking permit for the USDA lot, so we just park there. It's only about half a mile between our buildings.

I had just gotten to my building (this time with my ID) when I realized I'd failed to put the parking permit up in the car. Now I was actually in pretty severe danger of being late for the meeting, so I ran back to the car, put the parking permit up, and back to lab. Running a mile is obviously not an issue, but somehow doing it in jeans with a computer in a backpack is a weirdly exhausting. Not really my plan for the afternoon, but I did have my meeting and I also did some lab organization. There is now enough room for a single person to actually work at a bench!

Much more relaxed evening birthday run with Presto! Just my normal long evening run option down to Beebe Lake and across the suspension bridge. Good to get out and get some non-frantic running in!

Running 35:00 [3] 3.7 mi (9:28 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 24

Running with Sam and Presto after not-lab! We ran a slightly different loop than usual to go over the suspension bridge but keep the run under 4 miles, since Sam's knees complain with too much running on cold concrete. We're back to the seemingly typical snow all day and get like a cm of accumulation plan. This time that centimeter of snow was covering up some icy bits, so it was a bit slippy at times, but no one fell down, so it was all good. I was concerned I'd be too cold, so I ended up wearing way too much and was too hot, but it's good to remind myself what that feels like periodically :-).

Running 55:00 [3] 4.9 mi (11:13 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 24

Running with Presto! Sam wanted to go check out some options to accomplish his life-long dream of commuting to work via skis, but I was unexcited about poking around in the cold without a clear goal to get my heart rate up, so I went on a run with Presto. Presto was not entirely on board with this plan, as he clearly thought that today was a good day to stay inside. It was snowing, which was pretty and Presto eventually decided that running was an ok activity after all.

We did the full Beebe Lake loop and then headed over to the suspension bridge. The trails were either icy or filled with super deep fluffy snow, so it was kind of slow going, but super nice. Fun, fun!
