Red at Joe Grant County Park with Presto! Sam met me in San Jose on the way back from the conference and we headed out to today's BAOC meet. I was exhausted from the conference to start, so I knew today was going to be pretty slow, and my body did not disappoint. The course was super steep with lots and lots of side hilling. It was a lot of fun, but I was slow... I had a few pretty serious misses on two controls where I was very close but was a bit confused by the vegetation mapping and couldn't quite wrap my mind around where the control should be. I also got a pretty substantial blister on the bottom of my foot from all the side hilling and then was unmotivated to run very fast the rest of the time. Still lots of fun!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching back home after meeting up with a bunch of former and current labmates that were in town for the conference. Presto spent the entire picnic playing with a bunch of 5-8 year olds, which was completely adorable. Presto was the perfect mixture of safe and scary for them. They wanted to pet him, but they'd do it sort of from a far and only pet his butt. Every time he turned around to look at them, they'd all scream and then when he turned back around they'd all crowd back around him again. He had a pack of 4 kids following him around for several hours :-).

Running at Asilomar! Another quick after lunch run. My stomach was even more displeased this time, but it was still good to get out. Lots of fun running over the dunes. This must be a bad time for marine mammals because I haven’t seen a single seal, sea lion, or otter the entire week.

Stretching 5:00 [3]

Short stretch before bed in the hotel.

Running at Asilomar! Snuck out during the lunch break today. Running right after lunch definitely wasn’t ideal, but it was better than not running, so I headed on out. It was gorgeous and sunny with a nice breeze and awesome looking waves. The dunes were kind of invading the boardwalk, so the run was quite a bit more hardcore than I was expecting. Sliding down the super steep sand dunes on the boardwalk was awesomely fun!

Running at Asilomar! I was hoping to take Presto for a quick run before leaving for the conference yesterday, but between frantically rushing to submit some samples for sequencing/a meeting going 50% longer than scheduled/etc I barely managed to meet up with my ride. The schedule at the conference is pretty tight today, but I managed to sneak out for a quick run before breakfast. The ocean was gorgeous in the sunrise and I even ran into Darae out there, so we had a nice chatty run. Good to get out before spending the rest of the day sitting down!
