Running 33:11 [3] 3.1 mi (10:42 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 18

Easy-peasy jog in the rain with Sam and Presto! This felt a bit better than Tuesday. My legs were still weirdly sore after the run, but there was no shaking. Yay for improvement! Presto was moderately displeased about the rain at the beginning of the run, but then realized that it was basically just drizzling and settled in.

We turned on the news when we got back from the run and got to hear the most hilariously CA-only weather report: "Well, we're getting some real wet weather now. There's been heavy drizzle reported near the San Francisco coast."

Strength 5:00 [3]

Normal abs. These were harder than they should have been. I'm still way more tired than usual.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching.

Note

I'm not really sure what's from the flu and what's from the concussion at this point, but I'm still having headaches. Mild headaches, to be sure, but headaches none-the-less, and that seems bad. Or at least non-ideal. I also still feel slightly muzzy-headed all the time. Again, I'm not sure if that's from the flu or from the concussion.

For now I'm just going to try to get plenty of sleep. I've been hovering between 9 and 10 hours most nights for the past couple of weeks. On Monday night I only got 8 hours, and I felt tired pretty much all of Tuesday. I'm always pretty vigilant about sleep amounts because I get grumpy and inefficient when I don't get enough sleep, but I'm going to need to be even more careful than usual.

Running 32:00 [3] 3.1 mi (10:19 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 18

Running with Sam and Presto after lab! Oof. That was harder than it should have been.

Presto was very excited to be out for a run with the whole pack tonight. We went at very easy pace. Even still, my legs were shaking by the end (and continued shaking for the rest of the evening). Sam pointed out that considering that I was badly injured followed by being very sick, this isn't that surprising, but it kind of feels surprising. I'm going to cautiously declare myself cured from this flu, although the effects are still lingering, but how can I be that weak?!?

Strength 5:00 [3]

Struggled my way through my normal abs.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Pretty creaky, but it seems like doing virtually nothing for 3ish weeks was good for my lingering injuries. We'll see if that holds as I (presumably) increase my running over the next month or so. Fingers crossed.

Jogging to the start with Presto!

Brown at Bon Tempe with Presto! I'm still remarkably exhausted from the flu. I went back to work on Tuesday, but it's been all I can do just to go to work for the past week. Yesterday I walked down to lab to move some cultures and it was work to walk back up the hill. Sigh.

Anyway, I decided to just go out and jog the brown and see how it felt. I figured worst case, I'd just quit part-way and best case, it would be nice to be outside and sweat a little. I was definitely feeling the exhaustion on the uphills, but this was remarkably good. Brown was definitely the right length for me, I was starting to feel a bit shaky on the last big downhill and then some of the flatter running at the end, but I knew I was basically done, so I just went ahead and finished. My navigation was relatively clean - a few bobbles here and there. The most notable hesitation was one where I had no idea what the symbol I was looking for meant. Turns out it was a redwood circle, which was quite awesome, but I didn't figure that out until I actually got to the control :-).

Presto was quite excited to be running out in the nice green grass. And there was fudge at the finish, so all in all a pretty awesome day!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching back at home. I am disturbingly tired from that brown course...but I don't feel sicker, so that's good!
