Orienteering 22:23 [3] 3.3 km (6:47 / km)
18c shoes: Brooks Running 17

Prelim sprint at UC Berkeley! I figured my hip was recovered enough to run a couple of sprints, so we signed up for one day of the SF Sprint Weekend. (I was worried about running multiple days in a row.) My hip was kind of bothering me while I was warming up, but after some stretching seemed to settle in, and I didn't have any pain either in my hip or my foot while orienteering. Yay!

The orienteering was about as clean as you could expect after doing nothing for 3 months. I made a bunch of pretty stupid mistakes. Nothing massive, but everything adds up. It was super fun to be orienteering again, though. I think I had a massive smile on my face for the first half while I was like running! fast(er than normal)! And then a massive grimace on my face for the second half while I was like running...faster than normal...

Presto was quite the happy camper :-).

B final at UC Berkeley! I missed out on the A final by like 15 or 20 seconds, which was sad but not really a surprise, so B final it was. My body seemed sort of confused that we were going to run again. But I convinced it that this would be fun, and it was. My mistakes were fewer but larger this time, I was slower, and Presto was draggier.

The course was still super fun. Paul who started a minute or 2 behind me caught me on the way to 10 and then we had a lot of back and forth for the rest of the course, which was fun.

After the sprints, a bunch of us had a picnic and then got cinnamon rolls, which was pretty much the perfect end to a great day!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching. I think I will be sore. But my hip feels fine, so woohoo!

Hiking 2:00:00 [3] 7.0 mi (17:09 / mi) +400m 14:34 / mi

Walking up to Tilden with Sam and Presto! It's so nice to live in a place where we can walk to a park! We headed about as straight up as possible to get to Tilden and then walked up to Grizzly Peak and then back via the Lawrence Hall of Science. It was a gorgeous day, and Presto was extremely pleased to be off-leash and sniffing all the things.

My hip felt great, which was awesome. Unfortunately I got a tick that bit into my back and then failed to keep a good hold on its head when Sam pulled it out. Sam then proceeded to poke around in my back with tweezers for what felt like 20 minutes but was probably actually more like 5. Anyway, it was a lot of poking. Alas, the head is still stuck in my back. The tick could only have been bit in for 8 hours max, but my the lymph nodes in my arm pit and neck are pretty sore, which I'm hoping is more my body freaking out about the tick and all the poking than because of some sort of tick-born disease, but I guess I'll keep an eye on things.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching after seeing Coco, which was awesome! You should all see it if you haven't already!

Running with Sam and Presto! My hip was niggling a bit on the way up the hill but settled down by the top and the way down felt good.

Running 31:00 [3] 3.1 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 17

Running with Sam and Presto! My hip was mostly good, although there was some slight discomfort on the way down for a few minutes. Hopefully this will clear up as my body gets more used to running again. Presto was particularly excited to be out and about tonight. It was pretty chilly (for Berkeley), so maybe that was it.
