Hiking 2:00:00 [3] 9.0 mi (13:20 / mi) +600m 11:03 / mi
shoes: Brooks Running 17

Hiking up Mt Montara with Sam and Presto! Woohoo! Successful longish and steepish hike. We did this hike a few years ago with my parents and Ken on a cloudy day with views of the inside of the clouds from the top. Today was sunny and clear and we had AMAZING views all the way out to the Farallon Islands. My hip did well. It was a bit tired at the end, but never hurt. Yay!

We were joined on our hike by an entire pod of grey whales that were hanging out just off the coast!! It was super cool to see them swimming around. One even breached for us! Presto was more interested in the rabbits :-).

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Stretching after dinner.

Note

Benchwork day in lab. No run. Also, I had to skip Presto's morning walk because I had to get a time course started at 6:30am this morning (and while I could walk Presto that early, he would need to be walked again by Sam later in the morning in order to make it through the day without exploding and since it was raining and dark, Presto would not have enjoyed an extra early morning walk), so this only includes one Presto walk.

Running 27:00 [3] 2.8 mi (9:39 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 17

3 min run/1 min walk with Presto between rain storms! Super tired after a 13.5h day in lab. Luckily Presto started dancing around and sort of ushered me out of the house. It's nice to have a running partner that's always ready to get some exercise!

I had a weird sharp pain in my hip at the beginning, but after stretching it out, everything felt about the same as normal.

Strength 5:00 [3]

15 tuck-ups, crunches, side crunches, and planks.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching.

Running 27:00 [3] 2.8 mi (9:39 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 17

3 min run/1 min walk with Sam and Presto! My hip held up fine throughout :-). There was a weird pain in my lower abs that may have been a cramp or may have been part of the hip fiasco. It's hard to tell. I'll just keep an eye on it. Good to get out!

Strength 5:00 [3]

Crunches, side crunches, and planks.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching.
