Stretching 19:38 [3] 2.0 mi (9:49 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 17

Running with Sam and Presto after lab! Another jog just down to campus and back. I'm really confused about what's up with my right leg, but something's not right. Anyway, for now I'm just taking it slow and easy and flat. It always feels fine while running, but then things are weirdly sore afterwards.

Sam wanted to go for a longer run, so he continued on up the hill after Presto and I headed back to the house. Unfortunately he had the key, so Presto and I were stuck outside waiting for a while. It was a pleasant evening to hang around outside, so I was ok, but Presto was chilly and confused as to why he could not consume kibble and then curl up in his bean bag chair.

Strength 5:00 [3]

Normal abs.

Running 20:46 [3] 2.0 mi (10:23 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 17

Running to and from campus with Sam and Presto! I'm trying to slowly ease back into running, so I figured I'd do a shorter, flatter run than the usual jog up the hill. My butt (particularly on the right side, which is the side with the weird knee issue) is SUPER sore. Every step was kind of painful. I think it is the sort of painful that can benefit from getting some exercise, though, as opposed to the kind of painful that would benefit from sitting still.

The muscles around the knee - particularly in the back of the knee - were kind of sore after skiing, but felt fine today and also felt fine the entire run. Things started to tighten up on the last uphill to the house, so I walked it in. Hopefully I'll still feel ok tomorrow. Presto, at the very least, seems to have completely recovered from Sunday. He was quite spritely.

Strength 5:00 [3]

Normal abs.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching. Definitely still quite a few tired, sore, and tight muscles.

Cross-Country Skiing (Skate) 1:00:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:00 / km)

Skiing with Sam and Presto at Tahoe Donner! Woohoo! April skiing! Tahoe got another storm this week, so after confirming that 80 was open, we decided to go up for a day of skiing. Tahoe Donner has about 7km of dog trails, which is a bit limiting, but these dog trails at least go up a big hill rather than just being a loop around a meadow, so they were still pretty fun.

I was using rental boots to start because it seemed like they might be slightly nicer than my boots, but after about 20 minutes of skiing up a hill, my arches were cramping badly enough that we turned around so that I could switch boots. The second time up the hill felt SOOOOO much better. We got a great view at the top of Dogs In Space, and then had a really nice downhill run. Presto was super excited to run fast, and was having a blast!

Cross-Country Skiing (Skate) 1:05:03 [3] 10.2 km (6:23 / km) +131m 6:00 / km

After a short break for a peanut butter sandwich, I went back out for a loop around Euer Valley with Carol while Sam and Presto did another loop or two of the dog trails. I've never been down in the valley, but it was super nice and fun to catch up with Carol!

Cross-Country Skiing (Skate) 30:00 [3] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)

I traded off Presto duty with Sam, who went out to ski up the mountain. After some time spent hanging out the fire with Carol, Greg, and Presto, and then playing with an adorable golden retriever puppy, I decided to go back out for a last loop of the dog trails.

Presto and I were both extremely tired, but we mustered the energy to get up and down the hill one last time. Getting up the hill was challenging, but it was super fun to get one last downhill in before heading back to the Bay Area. Super fun day!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Stretching back at home. I will be sore. Well, technically I'm already sore, but I imagine it will be worse tomorrow...
