Orienteering 1:06:34 [3] *** 5.2 km (12:48 / km)
14c shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Green at Prospect Hill with Presto! This course was lots of fun. I started out by being kind of stupid to number 1, but then settled in to things until number 7, where I got confused by some extra trails and 9 where I got caught by some extra green... Anyway, I was happily under 10min/km at least through number 9, but the copious back and forth over the hill solved that... I sort of hopefully looked for a way around the hill going to 13 but ended up having to climb up and over. Presto had an awesome time running around and was really good at listening to me today, which was a huge improvement over the deer-infested woods of last weekend!

Orienteering 23:08 [3] *** 2.31 km (10:00 / km)

After helping out with registration and finish for a couple of hours (and hiding from the cold in Ian's car), Presto and I set out to pick up some controls from the southern end of the map. This went nice a smoothly until I noticed one of the epunch units had dropped off the control (I found it fairly easily), and then one of my controls was missing (I never found it - but it turned out it had been assigned to both me and Ali, so all was well). I met up with Brendan coming back, who had somehow had the misfortune to have to pick up 4 water controls and had speared all the cups and water jugs on his control stakes :-).

Running 25:33 [3] 3.1 mi (8:15 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 6

Quick run with Presto after lab in the sunshine! Woohoo! Well sort of sunshine. In the sunset anyway :-). We didn't see any rabbits, but it was nice to actually see the ground we were running on. Presto spent the run looking at geese instead.

Running 12:14 [3] 1.2 mi (10:12 / mi)

Running from Neil's to the start of the long legs course with Presto, Brendan, Ali, and Giacomo.

Orienteering 1:21:26 [3] *** 6.6 km (12:20 / km)
7c shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Long legs course at Blue Mountain with Presto! I've never been to Blue Mountain before and after all the rave reviews, I guess I was expecting something more runnable with less deadfall and things, but Presto and I had a good time anyway. There were a lot of deer out there, which made Presto super excited, but that meant he had to be on a leash because Presto likes deer a bit too much. Things were slow for the first 3 controls, but then sped up considerably. It was pretty much perfect running weather, and generally an awesome day to be out and about :-).

Running 18:51 [3] 3.5 km (5:23 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Presto and I saw Giacomo coming out of 5 as we were going into it, which made me worry that Presto and I would finish training way too early because I thought everyone else was doing another 6km course. The trails at Blue Mountain were awesome, so Presto and I headed on a nice extra loop to add some time and distance. It turned out that people didn't actually end up doing the extra loop (at least before the Boston crew left), so I ended up being the last one back for lunch, not the first one. Oh well! It was super fun anyway!

Running 1:59 [3] 0.2 mi (9:55 / mi)
shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Jogging back to Neil's from the finish for a yummy lunch before the drive back to Boston.
