Biking 1:45:00 [3] 15.0 mi (7:00 / mi)

SGB, Presto, and I headed out to Boojum Rock to do some mountain biking. My dad did an awesome job at fixing my bike's super annoying arbitrary gear-shifting thing as well as generally decreasing friction, and my bike was so much nicer to ride. It still makes some kind of funny noises when I pedal, but all in all, (assuming those noises don't mean the pedals are about to fall off...) I'm pretty pleased with my bike situation now. I'm definitely getting more confident biking on trails, and this combined with the fact that we didn't have stop every 5 minutes for me to reset the chain meant that we ended up biking longer and faster on fairly rough ground than we have with Presto so far.

He was so tired at the end that when we got to a stream he just flopped down to cool off in it! A very un-Presto-like thing to do! Unfortunately, it turns out we overdid it. Presto seems fine muscle-wise (a bit tired but nothing a few hard days of sleeping won't cure :-) ), but we discovered when we got home that his pads had blistered and were peeling. There is new happy-looking pad underneath the blister, but his feet seem to be a bit sore.

Strength 15:00 [3]

I got tired of still having my ankle hurt from way back in December even though I haven't re-injured it or anything, so I headed into the doctor last week, and I FINALLY got into PT. I had my first PT appointment this morning, and it actually seems like it will be pretty useful even though it is through Harvard University Health Services (which is usually pretty useless...). She determined that my right ankle is definitely weaker than my left, but that my real strength issue is my hips, which are astoundingly weak compared to the rest of my lower body. I now have a bunch of ankle exercises and some hip exercises to do. Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end of this excessively long ankle sprain :-).

Running 41:12 [3] 4.7 mi (8:46 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 6

CSU training set by Eric with Presto! Eric set a really cool training where we got a list of 10 clues for places in the Harvard Square-ish area, had to figure out where the best answer for the clue was, and then create the shortest course possible. The questions were things like "Intersection that describes Robin Hood's weapon of choice". I wasn't feeling that great physically (nauseous, headache...), but having a nice, fun, motivating mental challenge was good to get me out anyway. Presto had a blast in almost perfect weather for him, and we even saw a rabbit, so he was happy :-). I definitely did not create the shortest route, but it worked anyway. SGB and Brendan also showed up for the training, so we had a fun group for dinner as well! (Time includes some waiting at stop lights and things like that.)

Running 39:38 [3] 4.7 mi (8:26 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 5

Running with SGB, Presto, and Kiwi during the hurricane. It was delightfully cool, rainy, and windy, but didn't feel especially hurricane-esque. There were a decent number of largeish branches of trees and stuff, and at one point the wind was strong enough that running against it was a pretty big challenge. The dogs had a great time once they got over the fact that they were getting wet.
