Running 34:29 [3] 3.9 mi (8:51 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 3

Had to do lab stuff today (boo...), which started with about 10 minutes of work than then a 3 hour incubation, so I decided to run in to lab and then continue on to do the Eliot-Weeks loop before coming back to spend the afternoon in the (blessedly air conditioned) lab. It was another hot day, but this time I was out with the sun and was once again moving slowly. I think the day might actually have been pleasant if you were sitting in the shade, but running in the sun was hot. I considered changing my route significantly to stay in the shade rather than cross over to the sunny side of the river. I ended up convincing myself that most of the other side of the river would be shady, and this worked until I was actually on the sunny side of the river. I stayed on this side from Eliot to JFK and then looked at the long unbroken sun side of the river and the shady Mem Drive side of the river and crossed at JFK. Presto started really, really dragging after we crossed at Eliot. He obviously had no idea what would posses someone to run in this weather. Anyway, it was so nice to be out rather than in lab. I think this is the first time I've run 2 days in a row since my knee started bothering me. It was fine for basically the entire time I was running and started twinging just at the end.

Strength 10:00 [3]

Abs stuff.

Stretching 15:00 [3]

Nerve glides, back extensions, and ITB roller things. Ouch.

Running 39:38 [3] 4.3 mi (9:13 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 3

Running with Presto after a long day in lab. I was at first quite pleased that I had managed to get out of lab while the sun was still out until I realized that it was in fact 7:45 on a Friday...but the sun was still out, so running it was :-). It was pretty hot, and I was feeling rather sluggish and tired. We went down to the river and did the Eliot-Western Ave loop slowly. Presto started dragging a bit by the end, which didn't help matters. I must admit that running at 8pm when the entire run was shaded was probably significantly more pleasant than running earlier would have been, although I would have been less tired and hungry earlier. Definitely nice to get out.

Stretching 20:00 [3]

Icing my knee.

Running 31:37 [3] 3.9 mi (8:06 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 3

I couldn't stand the idea of staying in lab for another twelve hour day to do a failing experiment for the umpty-umph time, so during the 7 hour incubation I decided the lab could make do without me for a bit while I took Presto out for a run. We ran down to MIT and then back along Mass Ave. It was really, really nice out, and the break was exactly what I needed. My knees and ankle both felt basically fine the whole time, which was definitely nice, although they both started feeling a bit funny by the end. We had to dodge some Brazilian World Cup supporters and also people who work normal jobs that get out at normal times like 5pm. At first I was wondering why so many people were out on the street when obviously it was the middle of the work day, and then I realized that most people don't stay at work until 8pm.
