Running 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 2

Jogging from Riverside to Weston Ski Track. Apparently people in Newton don't clear sidewalks and there was an entire road that was basically a solid sheet of ice.
10 AM

Cross-Country Skiing (Classic) 1:00:00 [3]

Classic skiing in the morning at Ski Like a Girl! It was fun to actually get some instruction from someone other than my dad, although as it turns out my dad's instructions were quite useful :-). I learned some things about body position and practiced a lot of gliding on one foot and double poling.

Cross-Country Skiing (Skate) 1:30:00 [3]

Skate skiing at Ski Like a Girl! with Alex instructing this time. Man, this was hard! I felt incredibly clumsy and awkward, but it definitely got better as the time went on (it would be hard to have gotten worse...) although I still don't feel graceful by any stretch of the imagination. It looks so easy when Alex does it :-). We learned V1, V2, and V2 alternate. I basically got V2 alternate. V1 I think I can do the rhythm for more or less, but since I can't manage to get up hills while still skating, it isn't all that useful at the moment... I was having trouble getting my arms forward quickly enough to do V2. Apparently there are these muscles in your arms called triceps :-).

At the end we did an ice cream making relay, where we had an ice cream making ball attached to one of our ankles, so we had to double pole. I was first for my team, and I was all set to go but sort of forgot that the ice cream ball was adding a lot of weight to one leg, so I took off...and fell flat on my back. I did manage to get back up and take back the lead for my team, though :-).

Running 25:16 [3] 3.1 mi (8:09 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 3

Running with Presto from my apartment to the river and then did the JFK-River St. loop. My legs were feeling ok, but my breathing wasn't so great today: lots of coughing and mucus getting in the way of breathing and stuff, but it was nice to be moving faster. I can't wait until this is all gone!

Running 38:21 [3] 4.2 mi (9:08 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 3

Running with Presto from my apartment to the river and then did the Eliot-Western Ave. loop. I was feeling a lot better on this run than the last couple. My legs didn't feel as tired (although still more tired than usual) and my breathing wasn't as labored. I did start getting fatigued towards the end, though, so I've definitely still got some recovering to do, but I think I'm on the way up. It was wintery mixing the whole time, so it was a very cold and wet run. Presto was not pleased.

Strength 30:00 [3]

Upper body and abs. Turns out that on top of everything else, I am allergic to penicillin, which is of course the antibiotic I am on, so now I am covered in hives. I was planning on going running, but the doctor was concerned that the reaction get any worse (anaphylactic shock, etc.), so he told me to go home and take a ton of benadryl, which knocks me out quite effectively even at lower doses and basically made running impossible. Luckily I had already done most of this strength stuff earlier in the day, so I was able to get the last bit in before the benadryl really kicked in.

Running 28:29 [3] 3.1 mi (9:11 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 3

Running with Presto from my apartment to the river and then did the JFK-River St. loop. I'm still feeling really tired, but my knee didn't hurt this time, so I think it was a temporary thing.

Strength 5:00 [3]

Abs stuff. I left out most of the stuff that involved my legs since they were (sadly) tired from the run.

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Cruciatus stretches and back extensions.
