Red course at the NEOC Great Brook Farm meet. My leg was quite sore from my collision yesterday. When I woke up it was really tight, and I could barely walk because my sciatica was acting up. I stretched it out, which helped a bit, although it was definitely still painful. Unfortunately, the course was basically a long orange. There were two legs in particular that were just really long runs on trails, but the course in general was mostly following linear features. This meant that the decreased speed I had from my sore leg really hurt my time. I had to stop and stretch a couple of times, which probably cost me about 5 minutes of sitting still time.
I made a couple of stupid errors. Going to 4, I stopped thinking about the course and did a 180, which I caught after about a minute. I ran right by 9 without seeing it, and then got really confused because I thought I should have found it and lost a couple of minutes being confused. Leaving 10, I somehow crossed and trail and a rock wall without seeing either of them (I was either really out of it by this point or the map may have been a little strange there) and lost a couple of minutes going a suboptimal route/trying to figure out where I was.
Presto also came. He was incredulous at the idea that we were going running in the pouring rain, but got into it once we really started moving. We had a couple of arguments about which side of the trees we were going to run on and also about whether moving cars are good things to go say "hi" to. Between the tree issues and him stopping to pee/look at/try to chase things, I probably lost 10 more minutes to Presto-related stopping.
