Nav-X 2h Score-O with Presto at Las Trampas! Whoa this map is steep! The contours looked somewhat daunting when I first glanced at the map, and then I realized they were 7.5m contours...ouch. I got to Las Trampas a bit later than I'd hoped, so I didn't have a ton of time to plan a route. Mostly this was fine, but I hadn't thought much about how to bail if time got tight. My route started out fine. I wasn't moving super quickly up the hills, but that was too be expected. I had some trouble on 90, but was in a group of pretty competent orienteers and we eventually all found it. Control 100 also took longer than I'd hoped to find and at that point I sort of started freaking out about poison oak a bit. (THERE WAS A LOT!)

I glanced at my watch and decided to skip one of the 70 pointers down in a reentrant, but by the time I got to 97, I realized that I probably wouldn't have time to go down (and then back up) the, like, 50 contours I'd planned on, so, I reassessed and planned a route back that I thought I could actually finish. Sadly, it took me back by some controls I'd already gotten, but oh well. I think I would have been ok on time (or maybe only a minute or two over), but 52 was misplaced and I spent way longer than I should have looking for it. I eventually found it after I'd given up and was running towards 51 and then just saw some orange in the trees off to the side of the trail. Too bad I hadn't given up sooner :-). The rest of the course was mostly rolling, and trending downhill to the finish and was quite fun. Presto started getting pretty tired on the way back and on one of the controls where I was just popping off the trail up a hill and then back down the hill to the trail decided he'd just hang on the trail and wait for me :-). Super fun!!

Ended up 1st woman and maybe 5th or 6th overall (the results were difficult to parse), and got some yummy chocolate! Woohoo!
