Note

Walking Boris on the beach and going for ice cream was as much as I was doing today.

Running - Trail 4:28:56 [3] 35.46 km (7:35 / km) +2800m 5:26 / km
slept:7.5 shoes: Xtalon 212 #9 (GtWhernside'17)

Daz H Buttermere, Eng/Brit champs (36th, +43 on Carl).

Felt quite good to start (ran further up whiteside than everyone around me) but then the pack eased away - no point going too early I thought.
Felt fine around to Whiteless but the descent and subsequent re-ascent to and past Newlands had me blowing and it was a survival mode from there home. All 3+h of it.
Slightly better line around Robinson than in past but over probably preferable.
Walked the entirety of the tramway up from Honister getting as much food in as possible, plenty came past and my stomach was a bit off for the rest of the race. Would have been easy to head back and get the bus home but never really crossed my mind. Hit some pretty dark places and educated some sheep/groups of schoolkids in some fairly robust language.
Thankfully lots of others were suffering more/on duff lines so I hauled a few places back at the end.
Some very good results up the field, shouldwouldacoulda. Last 2 weeks maybe not ideal build-up (too well rested?) but training been a bit all over the place. Too much mincing in porter?

Only difference was I took some brufen 3h before start then some paracetamol 30min before as was worried about hip. Possible lead to stomach feeling a bit off?

The good news is the hip issues were merely a very infrequent grumble.
Despite feeling shit for 3h was nearly 20mins quicker than ever have been around here and ran 4:30 which beforehand I thought I would be pleased with.

plenty of support, great route, race and day out.

Dull ache, running systems not quite ideal given all the time off in last week. We'll see how far I get tomorrow.

slept:9.0

Felt a good soreness in glute today - the last few days it's felt like my piriformis didn't exist, but a few exercises have got it firing again.

S&C 20:00 [0]
slept:8.0 weight:74kg

Glute activation and quad bashing
Been doing a good 30+ minutes of rolling, stretching and exercises a day for last 4 days.
Not sleeping great again, has been worse though.

Running - Trail 47:54 [1] 7.8 km (6:09 / km) +185m 5:29 / km
shoes: Xtalon 212 #7 (IHMR'15)

Pre-Foo Fighters Superfortress wreck and Wain Stones with Hannah.

Glute/hip OK on flat/up, but really shortening my stride on the downhill, so much so that Hannah kept up!
