Note
(rest day)

Body was a bit tired, possibly from the repeated climbing this week. Crimping is hard on my fingers. They're fairly long - so a large moment, and evidently not strong enough to endure this repeated abuse. Fortunately, I haven't ripped my skin since the first few sessions in March.

Climbing 30:00 [3]

Showed up at Basecamp at 9:20 thinking they close at 11, but it turns out they close at 10 on weekends. I worked three autobelay pitches before moving to the bouldering wall. For whatever reason, the gym was almost empty - only one other guy was bouldering. A guy clipped into the autobelay I wanted to use stood on the ground - perhaps trying to psyche himself up - for a solid five minutes. I thought about asking him to move, but I wanted to see what he would do. He just unclipped and left.

On the bouldering wall, I warmed up on the oranges, sent a new green (B, C*, S, T), and skipped the yellows.

Climbing 30:00 [3]

Climbing at basecamp. I sent all the yellows and oranges again, then worked on the greens. A better climber than I pointed out what I was doing wrong on green problem "I", but I didn't quite make it to the top.

Climbing 40:00 [3]

I decided to purchase a monthly pass at Basecamp climbing to see how often I would go. The pass is about 90 CAD for 30 days; I'm hoping to get in at least 20 sessions of 30 minutes or more.

Today, I autobelayed three routes, then bouldered. I successfully sent all three yellows, all four oranges, and three greens. I worked on two other green routes, but a solution has proven elusive.

Biking 25:00 [3] 10.0 km (24.0 kph)

Commute; I got a flat tire near Queen's Park on my way to work. Later that evening, after changing the tire, I got a second flat tire on the way home when I hit a massive pothole. Brutal. In the rain, I abandoned my commute and hopped on the subway for the rest of the trip.

Long evening jaunt. When bopping through Cedervale, I encountered a large coyote. It seemed to circle me, and when I passed it, it started following me. Yelling at it didn't deter it, so I withdrew backwards while facing it. Once I reached the boundary of the park, the coyote stopped following me. It may have been guarding its young or been unwell in some way, but the coyote seemed formidable.
