Running 2:34:35 [1] 26.34 km (5:52 / km) +432m 5:25 / km
weight:1kg shoes: 201409 Asics Gel Sonoma

Long run. I first ran to my Anna's to obtain a pre-run burrito. Then I ran to the Fells, ran the Skyline trail, and ran home. I brought a pack of delicious caffeinated jelly beans, which I consumed in the Sheepfold, but otherwise ran unaided.

Strength training 10:00 [3]

I helped Giovanni move his washer and dryer from the basement to the second floor.

Running 1:17:28 [2] 12.1 km (6:24 / km) +335m 5:37 / km
shoes: 201409 Asics Gel Sonoma

Skyline run; there were a few patches of snow and many areas soaked in meltwater. A pleasant outing. I felt a little lethargic, but my time wasn't terrible given the effort and conditions.

Note

During our travels, Giacomo had an idea that sounded intriguing: a single large US O-Champs meet. Combining SML and Classic would be impractical, but imagine a megaweekend with Night-O, SML, and Relay champs.

Three feasible approaches, ideally for a three day weekend:
R night: Night-O
Fri-Sun: SML
Monday: Relay

F night: Night-O
Sat-Sun: SML (compressed)
Monday: Relay

F morning: Sprint, F night: Night-O
Sat-Sun: Middle, Long
Mon: Relay

SML always gets a large draw, so piggybacking the Relay champs on the event would increase its attendance. Having a single weekend would also encourage more people to attend - because this mega weekend and Classic champs would be the two largest events of the year. The only danger would be five awards ceremonies, but maybe we could find an auctioneer to do it.

I find myself wondering if NEOC Spring 2018 could pull off this event, possibly with an assist from UNO or CSU. Baldwin Hill for Night, sprint tbd, Pearl Hill (new map) for Middle, Townsend for long, tbd for Relay. Pawtuckaway would also be an intriguing possibility, especially since you could basically have all five events there.

Running 17:03 [1] 3.41 km (5:00 / km) +1m 4:59 / km
shoes: 201409 Saucony Ride 6

Run to track workout. I was delayed by an impromptu chat with a PI I work with.

Running 35:54 intensity: (16:54 @1) + (19:00 @5) 7.36 km (4:53 / km) +1m 4:53 / km
weight:2kg shoes: 201409 Saucony Ride 6

CSU outdoor track workout at Harvard. The workout was 2x(1000, 600, 600, 400); I arrived during the second 600 and tagged onto Terry. After finishing the workout - mostly hanging onto Terry, I ran the last 1000 and 600 solo. My pacing wasn't bad; I would hope to run 3:35, 2:06, and 80. There were about 100 people on the track, including a spirited cohort of elementary age children running 200s.

Kms: 3:39, 3:40 (solo)
600: 2:04, 2:07, 2:09, 2:07
400: 1:19, 1:16
Bonus 200: 43

I accidentally ate two burritos today, bringing my April total to 2.

Orienteering 16:58 [3] 3.4 km (5:00 / km) +75m 4:30 / km
22c shoes: 201409 Saucony Ride 6

Fun Tufts sprint designed by Becky, run by CSU.

Running 2:23 [1] 0.32 km (7:33 / km)
shoes: 201409 Saucony Ride 6

Orienteering 6:02 [2] 1.07 km (5:38 / km) +33m 4:53 / km
8c shoes: 201409 Saucony Ride 6

Second short sprint. I had a little trouble getting into my flow because the first control confused me and there was a zeroth control.

During dinner at my place, I was accosted by the Italian trio for the cardinal sin of putting celery into my pasta salad. Giacomo remarked that when I announced we were having pasta salad, he didn't realize it meant I would be taking pasta and putting in a salad. Still, there was good cheer and conversation. Italy: I have improved your cuisine. You're welcome.

Running 4:56 [1] 0.77 km (6:22 / km) +12m 5:54 / km
shoes: 201409 Saucony Ride 6

Biking 12:30 [1] 3.88 km (18.6 kph) +27m

Just because I could, I timed my bike ride home. I spent some time trapped by lights, and I rode cautiously to not get killed by a parked car door opening.

Running 1:11:10 intensity: (54:10 @1) + (17:00 @3) 14.17 km (5:01 / km) +39m 4:57 / km
shoes: 201409 Saucony Ride 6

Easy run with about 2x8 minutes of tempo thrown in for good measure. The first bout was comfortable at around 4:20/km, and I pushed a little faster on the way back. My calves were a little tight from this weekend, and I have a blister on the arch of my right foot. Otherwise, I am hale.
