Well that was brutal. But it was also really fun. We started by being told to do some search and rescue stuff, where I got brought to some woods and Anna had to come get me and carry me back 200 meters( after she did squats and push ups). Then we took a bus to the start. There were some controls in waterfalls, some in rivers, on trails, under bridges, at the top of cliffs at view points. Just a lot of cool stuff. There was one where we struggled a lot off the trail (it was a basic trail map so tough to go off trail). We decided to cut some corners and run through the woods in places. So there was also this team we expected to do well and were worried about them beating us/ getting more points. we tried to find this point with the highest # or points, which was in a crag cliff, where we had to climb down a trail over huge rocks and boulders, but we struggled and were running out of time so had to skip. We start running back and pick up the pace, getting some controls along the way. Then I decide we have to cut through the woods and fly down this hill through the woods trying to make the time. We find a sandbag (bonus 50 points of brought through the finish) so we decide to take it as we were half a mile away, but it was tough with 4 minutes to go. We're running and can hear the announcer saying "1 minute until overtime" and I try to help Anna with the bag and we run across the line with seconds to spare.
We WON. Overall. By 15 points. And another 15 to third. HOLY FRICKEN COW.
