Burton Creek (a few blocks from Lake Tahoe), "Club Championship" Relay. Air quality pretty good, rather warm. Start delayed by 1 hour and 40 minutes (Jay was printing people's names on the back of the maps).

Lead off a "Men's Veteran" team followed by Tak Sugiyama and Chuck Spalding. We were the best Mens Vet team with all members of the same club, but RickB-DaveE-Harbuck was clearly a better team, and so was JeffS-PhilB-GlenT. Cascade had a Women's Vet team of Ing, Eileen and Debbie Newell that finished ahead of us.

My legs were shot, so it was very frustrating trying to run. Still, wound up with fastest time on my team, so didn't let anybody down.

Made about a minute error on #1, very accurate the rest of the way, but just couldn't keep with Ing.

Didn't get my gps started until I was leaving number 1, and didn't stop it until about 12 minutes after I'd finished.

Sagen (first event ever here), north of Truckee. Nationals Long. Not fun, way too hard. Managed to get third because a whole lotta people did even worse than I did. Exhausted afterwards.

Warm up. Had actually jogged slowly for a couple of minutes before getting the watch going.

Felt surprsingly good.

US Nationals Sprint Champs at Sierra College. Excellent run for me, steady throughout, only a few steps in two places in non-optimal directions, hardly anything worth calling a mistake, certainly nothing that caused a loss of more than 5 seconds. Wound up first in M70, and also had a faster time than anyone in M65 (and than anyone at all on the "Brown" course).

Had been so sleep deprived and frazzled beforehand, amazing that I was able to concentrate fully once the race started.
