Basketball 4:00 [2]

JCCLG. Read a NY Times article that Charlie sent me a few days ago about a guy who hadn't played basketball since he was a kid, and then a few decades later, got himself some coaching and got much better. Inspired (and still without any coaching) went out and could hardly make a shot. Oh well. Did swish a couple at the end, though, and enjoyed all of it anyway.

Strength exercises 18:00 [4]

JCCLG. Crowded, so didn't do things in the usual order, and didn't have a lot of time, but basically a two-sets-instead-of-three workout (except 3 sets of two of the core exercise) but no weights and only 6 bar dips (still being cautious about my left rotator cuff).

Orienteering race 36:33 [5] *** 3.5 mi (10:27 / mi) +120m 9:26 / mi
spiked:7/11c shoes: Yellow Falcons

Pacheco. Long Brown, 3.5 km, 120m climb (officially 140). Vastly nicer day than yesterday, mostly sunny, mid-50's. Wore just a short sleeved shirt (having taken off a second one that I left at the start). Start at 11:23. First place by nearly ten minutes.

Wore rubber booties instead of socks, which worked really well with ground so wet. Wish I'd had them on yesterday when my feet got so cold.

Was amazingly strong running - don't know where that came from.

4 errors at the end of legs: #'11, about 30 secs; #3, 6, 8, about 20 secs. Maybe I was running too fast on some of those (though 3 and 11 were more fake-outs than navigation errors, and 8 was seeing and running to a different control, placed too close to the actual one [though we were warned that would be the case]).

Very enjoyable, but beat at the end because I really pushed.
