Middlesex Fells, Winchester NH. Went for a casual walk while Louise was visiting Camilla. Parked at the lot for Long Pond and walked over to and across the bridge that crosses the reservoir. Gorgeous, warm day with lovely fall colors.

Orienteering race 1:29:47 [5] ***** 4.0 mi (22:27 / mi) +120m 20:32 / mi
spiked:9/12c shoes: Yellow Falcons

Day 2. Start 10:46. 27 min error on #2. Had to find my way back to the start triangle, and even the second try was difficult. Did reasonably ok the rest of the way despite being tired and dispirited.

Running warm up/down 7:00 [2] 0.6 mi (11:40 / mi)
shoes: Yellow Falcons

Warm up by jogging to start.

Orienteering race 56:16 [5] *** 3.81 km (14:47 / km) +62m 13:40 / km
spiked:9/13c shoes: Yellow Falcons

Harris Center, Hancock NH. Day 1 of Boulder Dash A-meet. Start 11:19. Sunny, temp in high 40's. Went with short sleeve O-top and that was just fine.

Brown 3.7km, 150m climb.

First control was streamered. Easy to get to attack point 150m from #2 but sloppy from there leading to 5 min error. After that, was pretty accurate and when I finished I actually thought I'd done pretty well. But Bob L, Steve T and Ken W were way ahead of me (even subtracting the five min error) so it's clear that I'd have to run faster and with a lot more confidence to get anywhere near them. But at least I was able to read the terrain.

Running warm up/down 9:00 [2] 0.65 mi (13:51 / mi)
shoes: Yellow Falcons

Warm up: jog to start. Quarter mile, 3 mins. Legs felt good.

Cool down: 0.4 mi, 6 mins.

The usual weekly accumulation of morning stretching. Hardly any strength exercises.

4 PM

Orienteering 50:00 [3] 2.0 km (25:00 / km)

Pawtuckaway. NW corner. With Steve Tarry going out, on my own coming back. Very instructive.

shoes: Kayano 16 White

Walk to and from the car to the edge of the map.

Orienteering 15:00 [2] 0.8 mi (18:45 / mi)
shoes: Yellow Falcons

Pawtuckaway. Gorgeous day. However, got there late and had almost no time. Jogged and walked some, but felt like I accomplished nothing.
