Blodomloppet! Normally this is my 5km time trial of the year, but this year taking it a bit easier. I wasn't sure how fast I could run, but on my recent runs I've felt quite slow. 6min/km has felt challenging, so I thought that I coud aim for under 30 minutes today.

And I grossly underestimated my ability and competitive spirit. 21.40 is my new 21 weeks pregnant PR! :)

I started in the second start wave. The first wave, which started 5 minutes before mine, was for people running hard "springer fort" and running under 25 minutes. My start wave for for runners under 30 minutes. Then there a third start wave 5 minutes after for jogging. After that, there is a start for walkers. So, you know, you can really choose your appropriate start group.

Except people can't! For the first 400 meters it was great. It was me and 3 12-year-old boys leading our start group. And then we started catching the people, in the "under 25 minutes" start group who were walking. And then more who were walking. And by the 1km mark it was starting to get crowded. And then I started catching people who were admittedly running, but at like 10min/km pace. I know I'm a math teacher and a runner, so maybe I understand these things better, but they are not going to make it to the finish under 25 minutes. And then it was just hordes of people running so slowly and walking. And they were all over the place, with no sense of others.

Ok, so yes, I also misjudged how fast I would go. But there is no way these people thought they could run under 25. They weren't running under 35 minutes.

Needless to say, it was frustrating at times trying to get around people. I was mostly staying to the far left and running a bit on the grass off the dirt road when I could and trying not to get in anyones way by cutting them off. And I know I'm competitive, and these people were just out having fun. But my fun comes from running fast and I wanted by them! I'm done ranting - and I did have fun! Beautiful sunny and warm weather, and good company of coworkers and picnic afterwards.

I really want to teach these people how to use start blocks, but it's also awesome that so many people came out to run today. Almost 9000 people out there today. Pretty crazy.

Just use the correct start block.

A short run today on my Kung Björn Hög loop. Uphills feel hard, but otherwise feeling good! A bit sore from running this week :)

Joined the interval group for their warmup

Then jogged a bit while everyone else was running testbana, and then timed the finishers.
