Warm up for the sprint. We arrived and I casually got my packet and when I finally checked my start time, it was in 15 minutes! I rushed for a bit trying to get ready and then thought "This is silly." I figured I could get a new start time, and I would rather suffer the wrath of Janet Porter (who was working at the start) than not have the chance to warm up and go to the bathroom. In the future, maybe checking start times before arriving to the meet site would be a good idea.

Sprint at West Point. Really fun! Sent us right down onto a tricky hillside. I did quite well here for the most part - taking my time to look ahead and around me. I did have my head buried in the map on the way to #5, and hesitated before looking up and seeing the flag. Then I thought the trail ran around he outside of #7 (it was really the form line) and so I cut over the rocky nose for no reason. I hesitated on the way to #17 as I couldn't quite figure out the parking garage and went slowly around it. Otherwise, pretty good. I'm just not moving that fast for some reason...

I had a fairly good middle at Ran it Granite and was looking forward to another. Long leg in the beginning gave me pause, but I picked a solid route choice (through the green and along the fence) but ended up climbing too high at the end of the leg and ending up above the control by a few contours. Again some trouble at the end of the leg to #2 - running up the wrong hill. 3 - 7 went pretty good. Although I didn't make any mistakes on these I can see by comparing splits that I was not moving very quickly. High on #8 (trying to read the green) and I went over the top of the hill and down through the dark green on the other side. Might have been ok, but then missed the control at the end. 10 I also ran to the wrong boulder, but then the end went well. Need to work on speed through the woods and accuracy in the circle!
