Around Springdallah. Good fun, took some of the hills very very easy though, haha.

Along the creek, really just to recover and give the dog a run. Felt okay, a bit heavy-legged.

Orienteering race 30:14 [5] 5.2 km (5:49 / km)
shoes: VJ Intergrator O-Shoes

Good run today. Wasn't very hard! Hesitated quite a lot on 1, but was clean until 11 when I was following someone and not concentrating and so made a mistake. That will teach me! Felt a bit sluggish but otherwise fine.

Orienteering race 1:17:30 [5] 9.8 km (7:54 / km)
shoes: VJ Intergrator O-Shoes

Australian Long Distance Champs
The course was 7.6 but that's what my GPS said.
#1: Thought I had planned really well, but was compassing poorly and ended up in a creek parallel to the one where the control was. Spent a while looking around before heading to the right place. Lost 3 minutes.
#7: Hit the junction between the fence and the creek, pointed my compass in totally the wrong direction and ended up lost. Headed back to the fence and went the right way this time. Lost another 3 minutes.
#10: Poor compassing again, drifted down the spur and began looking up and down the wrong creek. Finally put my compass on the map and realised I was at right angles to the proper creek. Lost 4 minutes.
#12: Compass really letting me down. Need to practice! Drifted way high, got confused about which creek I'd crossed. Lost 1 minute.
#13: Really good route choice, right until the end when I decided one creek was another and turned left...went for a while before turning around and finding the control. Lost 3 minutes.

Pretty frustrated with my run today, particularly after I thought I had planned it all so well. I also felt really great running! To top it all off the Cats lost the final and I had my dad the Hawks supporter rubbing it in!

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2]
shoes: VJ Intergrator O-Shoes

Walking on the model map. Really not strenuous. I thought walking would be fun but it's crap, the little things annoy you way more.

Orienteering race 20:18 [5] 3.3 km (6:09 / km)

Australian Sprint Distance Championships
Pretty good run really. Small hesitation on 5, ran out of 4 the wrong way, then about 20sec on 9 because I didn't realise it was down in between the fence and the building (read your clues Aislinn!) and then wasted 30sec on number 24 going around the gate because I thought the horse track was out of bounds! Duh!

Orienteering race 37:00 [4]
shoes: VJ Intergrator O-Shoes

I don't remember how far I did! The Aramara Wander public teams race. Pretty much a score event with compulsory controls for the whole team and then you split up the rest. Mum, dad and I were in a team together. We won the family race! Yay!

Orienteering race 55:00 [5] 7.5 km (7:20 / km)
shoes: VJ Intergrator O-Shoes

An NOL race on the same day as the Australian Schools Champs.
#1: Hit the creek and turned right instead of left. Ran for ages until I realised which gully I was in, then headed back. Lack of planning. Lost about 6 minutes.
#3: Again poor planning, drifted left and hit the fence, then came back in. Lost 1 min.
#8: Ran too low and right past the control, realised where I was when I saw the fence crossing. Lost 2 minutes.
#10: Bolted out of the spectator up the spur instead of the gully. Lost about 1 min in putting myself right.

Otherwise felt hot and slow. Really struggled to run up hills.

Orienteering race 1:09:04 [5] 6.5 km (10:38 / km)
shoes: VJ Intergrator O-Shoes

Queensland Long Distance Champs
#2: Didnt read my map properly, saw one creek instead of two, ran along looking for the cliff facing me on the left but of course it was facing the other way in the creek i was in. Went back to number 1, then realised and went back in. Lost ages.
#6: Hit the creek and turned left instead of right. Eventually found 10 and then headed from there back to 6. Made the mistake because I followed a gully which ran into the totally wrong part of the creek. Poor planning.
Otherwise clean enough. Felt okay.

Jogging warm up/down 5:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Intergrator O-Shoes

Orienteering race 44:30 [5] 3.3 km (13:29 / km)

Australian Middle Distance Champs
#3: Headed up along what I thought was a creek. Turns out it was just some random gully. Ended up way up the spur, eventually found a track and headed across to my control. Disaster.
#4: Compassed badly, missed the top of the gully and hit the next one. Got confused and wandered around for a bit, then realised and headed off the the control. Awful planning.
#6: Not careful enough, counted one gully but crossed 2. Ended up way up the spur.
Rest of the run was okay. Just getting used to it =P
