Went into this expecting a trail run with occasional bush sorties for controls, which I figured my legs could just about cope with after yesterday. Instead got my favourite kind of bush-bashing-through-shitty-Sydney-scrub orienteering with some bonus bingo and badly mapped controls for good measure.
I made it to 3 before I was fed up of the scrub going the direct way to 4, but there was respite with a track route to 5 before getting thoroughly pissed off arsing around in shit scrub too high and along from 6. Then did what many others did and took off up the trail on the wrong ridge 90° out to 7, only realising at the top when I stopped long enough for my bubble filled compass to settle.
Slogged the trails to 8 (but missed the junction) and 9 where I got very lucky in bingo amidst unmapped rock. 10, being metres away from the track, and not further plus up a couple of contours as the map suggested, eluded me for some time until it was spotted from the track. Grinding from the to the finish.

SUFR run in the Blueys. Out along Narrowneck at a cruisy pace, waited for everyone to get down Tarros, then set off at a decent clip down the fun singletrack with a chap called Keith who was full of good chat.
Stopped at Dunphys to regroup a little, but I had bag issues and dropped off the back to fix, then sort out sunscreen as it was getting hot. There's a big old climb after this and I struggled mentally running the road section solo to 6 foot, even though I was setting a decent pace and passing people.
Keith and Matt waited for me at the start of the 6 foot section which started with a rather angry red bellied black snake, and we pushed on nicely up to Nellies where I smashed the climb, but to no avail as the GPS signal didn't come with me. Few cramp twinges at the top, but still feeling pretty strong from here to the finish.
Nutrition: couple of hot cross buns & banana for breakfast, ate a couple of cereal bars, some crackers & vegemite, some shotblockz & some lollies on the run and got through 1.5l water & 1.5l electrolyte. Felt fine on this, but probably should have eaten more.
Did not refuel well afterwards, half a pie & cakes for lunch and a dinner light on carbs led to a serious crash on Sunday.

NRG Hills - another good solo effort round here, wasn't pushing really hard in the wet but knocked another couple of minutes off the course record (maybe down to road running rather than the verges I usually take), so good to see continued progress over recent weeks.
