Running (Mixed) warm up/down 8:00 [3] 1.7 km (4:42 / km) +15m 4:30 / km
ahr:156 max:171 slept:6.0 shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 190

Up to the start
12 PM

Orienteering race (Middle) 44:54 [5] *** 7.5 km (5:59 / km) +175m 5:22 / km
ahr:181 max:195 spiked:15/19c shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 190

Struggled with 1:15 for a middle, #1 came fast and I was veering off when I spotted it, #2 took ages and I ended up getting sucked down the hill, ok time for #3 (equivalent to up & over) although it felt slow at times.

#5 I'm surprised I was bang on line but didn't go far enough - I thought the tree I bounced off was to the east, then coming back in from the track didn't work either, lost over 3 minutes. #6 I was looking too early again and was careful with my attackpoints (trees) to #8 which worked well, did the same to #9 and was spot on to the termite mound, but control was in the wrong place so lost 2:40.

#11 a bit high and close to the start, #16 felt too low and GPS suggests that is also the case. Didn't really have the legs left for the running up and down the banks towards the end.

Lovely terrain, open and fast, and a pleasure to be running around scattering kangaroos. Surprisingly my main mistakes showed up my distance judgement as much as my compass, which I knew would let me down.

Annoyingly fell on my knee and knocked scab off, so finished with blood pouring from it for the second orienteering event in a row (well, at least I actually finished this time).

Got a better workout tonight, being late and having to catch up helped, and I did a lot of hills at a reasonable effort. Evil out and back across Iron Bridge to finish.

Cycling 15:00 [3] 4.0 km (16.0 kph) +20m

Slightly merry cycle home.

Out to Turramurra in the morning mist. Yanko Road was nasty, lovely downhills then met with a view straight up the other side. Repeatedly.
9 AM

Running (Mixed) 1:10:00 [3] 7.0 km (10:00 / km)
ahr:134 max:179 shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D

Control hanging then shadowing. Orienteering in the bush so much fun here as a kid with all the rock to climb and scramble over. Sure something like adventure running kids could work well here.
12 PM

Cycling 1:30:00 [4] 35.0 km (23.3 kph)
ahr:149 max:180

Home via west pennant hills, legs pretty shot for the continuation of the Comenarra Parkway, but alright after that, dead by the end.
