Oceania Relay - 3rd Leg

Another pretty terrible run, mainly as my blistered heels were agony on any climbs or contouring, of which there was quite a lot. Thought shoes had been ok on the warm up, bit sore, but by number 2 I was considering ditching them I was in so much pain. Considered leaving them at the spectator but didn't fancy chances in the forest (and rightly so when I got there).

Nav was disrupted mainly by thinking about feet, given simplicity of area I was making stupid errors through not concentrating, then lost a whole heap of time on the second control in the forest where I mentally and physically gave up. Slog back to the finish from there. Days like this and the middle make me think that the number of good runs I have when 'overseas' are minimal and I can't orienteer for toffee, not aided by lack of physical ability.

Oceania 'Sprint' -

Like many I never got my head into this, no real opportunity to, every decision felt rushed. Was going ok up until the long leg where I just rushed and carried on through the control leading to the long slog up the hill (where the blisters started killing) rather than assessing the options. Was really tough having to look so far out of the way for routes (see also #3). Brain melt on way to 8 where I totally misread map and was looking for a gap by the stairs/garden. Slow around circle at 11, missed path to 12, came out of 13 wrong way. Picked up places on the final third so must have been going ok then, but not overly happy with the overall performance. One hell of a tough course.
