Orienteering 44:51  *** 3.7 km (12:07 / km) +135m 10:15 / km
West Point Middle Distance - Green Y course on the Deep Hollow map. My primary goal for this weekend was to not incur or exacerbate any injuries. I was looking forward to the event as I have not orienteered much since early last fall due to the foot injury (which flared up after last year's West Point event).
I lost 2-3 minutes on #1 after talking myself out of climbing the big hill which knew I was going to have to climb. Thought #2 was hung higher than I expected and lost a bit of time correcting there. Petr caught me here and we ran together untl after #6 when he pulled away. I also missed #7 to the left and had to come back from the trail - maybe a minute or so lost.
So a somewhat sloppy effort. My legs didn't have much giddy-up. Maybe they were a little tired from the vetting yesterday?
Orienteering 22:51  *** 2.5 km (9:08 / km) +58m 8:11 / km
West Point Sprint - Green Course on the Camp Natural Bridge map. A better effort than the Middle. I only had one hiccup - misread my control description for #6 and was looking at the base of the cliff instead of for the boulder and went right past the control. About 50 sec lost.
Really liked the variety and the course made maximum use of the area. Fun!
