Orienteering 54:45 [4] *** 5.3 km (10:20 / km) +190m 8:46 / km
spiked:6/10c shoes: VJ Integrator Spikes

Patuxent River Park, MD - Mid-Atlantic champs Green course hosted by QOC. A decent run but I finished 3rd in the battle of the Toms and 3rd overall. My errors were pretty minor, just small corrections near the controls. Did a lot of compass and pace work with aiming off. Excellent course by Francis H.

Orienteering 11:02 [5] ** 2.0 km (5:31 / km) +10m 5:23 / km
spiked:4/4c shoes: VJ Integrator Spikes

Patuxent River Park, MD - 3rd leg of the Relay (team made up of Karl, Vadim, Clem). A very easy but fun loop through the open field. Definitely need to work on my conditioning.

Miscellaneous 4:00:00 [2]

A-event terrain scouting with Clem. I had been to all of the areas before but they were new to him.

First stop: Middle Run Natural Area. Covered most of the park. First strange sight of the day was a white blur that ran through the woods. I think it was a stray dog but Clem swears it was an albino deer.

Second stop: White Clay Pumpsie Doodle / White Clay Deerfield / White Clay Louviers. Fun checking out some of the old Louviers grounds where I used to work.

Final stop: Fair Hill north. A recent annex to the park north of the Mason Dixon line. Sublime. Saw the second strange sight of the day - a backyard barbeque set up in the woods along a small stream valley nowhere close to a road.

I think plans are beginning to coalesce. At least progress is being made.

Road Run 41:25 [3] 4.75 mi (8:43 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia 7

Decided to check out the new section of the Pomeroy Rail trail in Newark. Ran from the UD Laird (north) campus out to Cleveland Ave. and then took a side trip up to the Newark reservoir. Some nice views up there right at sunset. Then back along the same route.

The rail trail continues south through Newark. I need to do a little more exploring to check it out.

Trail Run 40:10 [3] 4.5 mi (8:56 / mi)

TNT Media - Set out from the high school with my headlamp only to find Barren Rd. barricaded right outside the Tyler trailhead. What was going on? Had the arboretum set up some sort of dragnet to nab those pesky TNT interlopers? Nah, turns out the road was merely closed due to some down wires from the storm.

So I settled for a ho-hum run around the Penncrest athletic fields instead.
