orienteering 1:00:00 [3] 7.0 km (8:34 / km)

Orienteering in Lunsen, courtesy of TGIF. We left KG at 5 in order to get most of the training while there was still daylight.

Mass start at 5:45 and I tried to push pretty hard, but that only lasted for a few controls, and then I slowed down to accommodate my heel feeling sore. I also made a few mistakes, but I was very happy to be out in the woods, enjoying the lovely terrain. It was getting dark by the end. I enjoyed sharing the woods and the loops with lots of other runners.

I saw Anna Nystedt, wearing black at control 15. Then a few hundred meters later, I saw a figure, wearing black ahead of me about to punch control 16... and was surprised that I had been outpaced. It turned out to be a different black shirted blond Anna, Anna Karlström.

There was a choice of difficulty tonight. I chose the easiest, normal map. But you could upgrade to contour only, corridor only, or contour and corridor together.

Note

A nice day at work, good to be home and not have any serious travel for a few months. My work laptop, which refused to boot up on the trip to the US, was successfully reanimated long enough to transfer all the data and files to an external drive. A much better outcome than I was worried would come to pass.

No training today, but I can throw out there that Sam and I made Eggplant Parmesan Melts from Smitten Kitchen. We heartily approve.

Note

Missed Rockgympa tonight. Probably would have been a bad idea just based on how much soreness exists in my quads after the long distance anyway.

My SMS to Johan read : "Hej Mr. I was too ambitious with my planning. We are back from the US, but I asked Sam to open the gym and bring the things... I will stay at work for some more hours :( i hope that is okay."

Johan's reply: "That sounds like my Ross ;) And it's okey"

I feel like anyone lucky enough to have people like Sam and Johan in their life is lucky indeed.
