Today was a full day of teaching. At least I had a good partner in crime. Vero and I taught 5 sets of students about pyrosequencing. It felt like an early morning to get set up and running at 8am and I exported the last sequences at 7:30 pm. The day started out with some bad luck and a bad run where we got no light emission from any of the first samples. We then took fresh reagents and changed the filters on the vacuum probe, some combination of that solved the problem for the next groups. Still, these forensics students should be able to match their suspects to the "crime scene" in the end.
A full day teaching in the lab, then trying to do some work of my own afterward, and finally an evening of board games with our biweekly Imperial Assault game crew. We, the rebels, were crushed again this week. This time, almost literally.
Another good crowd. We needed to form an inner circle to get everyone in to fit. We're going to need some more mats (and more Mats?) in order to accommodate everyone. We had 50 again today. A good session. Sweaty and happy at the end.
