Stigtomta relay. I ran a daytime leg on the 2nd team. It was a chasing restart after the initial three night legs. I was starting quite a bit behind the lead, in 66th position. I ran well. I did make one very serious mistake, which was misreading the map on the long leg. I really thought that I could come along the northern edge of the lake but about halfway through my leg I saw that the purple came all the way down to the lake. Oh no! I made a quick attempt to sneak across the southern edge of the marsh, but it was too late and I realized that the best solution was to go all the way left to the control. Maybe 2-3 minutes lost on that leg. Some other small bobbles, but on the whole this is a great result and I am super pleased.

Note
(rest day)

Rest day to prepare for a long weekend of racing, and as an acknowledgement of tired legs this week. Not much time for training anyway, what with the evening trip down to FinspÄng.

Track 11:15 [2] 1.81 km (6:14 / km) +1m 6:13 / km

Got up early for me and biked down to the track to join in the CSU 3k time trial as an "in-spirit" member. A sunny day, and motivating to be up and running early in the morning. Legs a little tired and empty feeling during the warmup. Drills and strides felt a little off, but it's never a good idea to worry too much about how your body feels during warmup... the proof is in the pudding.

Track 10:07 [5] 3.09 km (3:17 / km) +1m 3:16 / km

And the proof in the pudding was that my body is tired :) A good effort and a much worse than expected and desired performance. I was hoping for 9:20 this time, knowing that I wasn't rested and was running alone, and think that time should be achievable. My eventual goal for this season is 9:00 and this morning is an indication mostly that I need to wait more than 14 hrs between intervals and a time trial.

Still, thanks CSU for motivating me to get up and out the door this morning!

Tomorrow might be a good day for a rest day.

Trail run 12:19 [2] 0.74 km (16:43 / km) +23m 14:27 / km

I was responsible for club training tonight, which meant that Johan set everything up and all I needed to do was set a course, print maps, and show up :) Other training members were responsible for hanging and then picking up the flags. That's a luxury that makes training here in Uppsala pretty awesome.

Jogged down as a group to the start location, beautiful in the valley with sunny weather and good company.

This was a fun training. I kept the pace pretty well and had decent contact with the map. Occasionally got pushed off of the line I had planned to take, but I was able to keep my head up and correct on the fly. Carl Johan was running really well and he overtook me near the end of the course and I kept him in my sights to the last control and raced hard to the end.

After training we jogged up to the top of Predikstolen and took in the view.

Great training.

Trail run 13:14 [2] 2.51 km (5:16 / km) +30m 4:59 / km

Jogging back to the clubhouse. Stopped by the start to pick up an extra definition holder and then I took an alternate way home. Discovered that the middle bridge in HĂ„gadalen was under construction and off-limits. I also discovered that I was quite happy to ignore the dire warnings, hop the streamers and cross the construction site.

Legs felt much better at the end of the day than this morning at the track. Pleased.

Trail run 40:20 [5] 8.55 km (4:43 / km) +27m 4:39 / km

Super tired today, but dragged myself over to training. After a short warmup jog and some running drills, the workout started. Intervals were 2x (4-3-2-1) with 1-1-1-2 rest. I struggled to keep a steady pace, and so for the first couple of intervals I yo-yo'd at the front of the group with Anders B. He was running a very nice steady pace, and I just found myself alternating being able to keep up with him and then falling off the pace. Just a loss of focus, I think, so I tried to just think about my form and keeping the fundamentals right. Anders was solidly in the lead for all the intervals and Johan, Erik and Fredrik were also in the mix for a lot of it.

I think maybe I did too many crunches on Sunday evening, and my core is still tired after absent mindedly doing crunches while watching an hour of the EOC sprint GPS tracking with Boris. Also, eating cereal just before training was a calculated risk. That being said, felt much better after I was done.

Strength (Rockgympa) 45:00 [3]

Another session with spenst outside and core strength inside. Johan led our smaller than normal group out to our staircase and we did our jumps, and our quick stepping, then we jogged over to the hill for more jumps, balancing and uphill jumps. We got mockingly cheered at by a group of nearby grilling Swedes.

Then it was inside for core strength.

Innebandy 20:00 [3]

We played a fair bit of Innebandy tonight, with only a few people sticking around after strength we didn't have to cycle teams much. Played with Johan and Pontus first vs Boris, Mao and Laurenz, and then with Boris and Mao. Lastly it was 3 on two, and then it was Boris and me vs Johan, Laurenz and Mao. Tired but happy afterward.

Quit early to make it over to Lisa and Seb's place for Fika and 7 Wonders. #Blodanliving
