Road run 32:20 [4] 5.0 mi (6:28 / mi)

Last night Sam asked me if I would go running with her.... but this morning she wimped out. I wanted to run faster than my normal commuting runs so I headed out the door pushing quite hard. Ran out through hammond pond over to the reservoir, around and back along the roads. was great for running except in places that were icy. There is one sidewalk near the reservoir that never gets cleared at all, at least not in the past 3 or 4 years and it bugs me. I fell on that stretch of sidewalk last winter and so I wish there was an easy way to get the proper people to take care of their shoveling.

Trail run 1:17:00 [3] 7.1 mi (10:51 / mi)

a group of CSU folks, spearheaded by Brendan, decided to meet up at the sheepfold for a loop of the fells Skyline trail. Clem, Brendan, Ian and I cruised around the packed snowy loop pretty quickly. really took off at the beginning and my fingers finally warmed up about 15 minutes in. downhills were fun in the snow and having good company was really motivating for getting out to do a good quality workout at 9:30 on a Saturday.

in the evening went to the NEOC holiday party at the Parson's house. good people, good times :) I did really poorly at recognizing the NEOC maps in Tim's map game.

Road run 32:00 [2] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

run to work in the morning.

Road run 35:00 [2] 4.0 mi (8:45 / mi)

Running home from work. On the way I made a new friend. There was a guy that was running about my speed but just a few steps behind me, so I asked him how far he was going and then slowed down a bit to run even with him. He was very nice, recently moved to Boston (1 week ago) and originally from BC, Canada. We ran as far as the reservoir together and then I peeled off. Nice to run and chat, also nice to make new running buddies.

Road run 46:00 [2] 5.7 mi (8:04 / mi)

To work. Lap of the reservoir. Running on packed snow was tricky and I need to wear another couple of layers on the bottom as things were going unsettling-ly numb.

Road run 48:00 [2] 5.7 mi (8:25 / mi)

running home. The loop around the reservoir was even worse, footing-wise, by evening. No one was out there at night, so I had the place to myself. on the far side of the reservoir I was sheltered from the wind and enjoying the run and thinking about adding a lap, but then I got back out into the chilly windy part and decided to head straight for home.

Road run 32:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

running to work. After work, CSU got together for some bowling action. I am not the world's best bowler, but I remember being able to bowl over 100 occasionally! not this time. Ian, Brendan and Clem were respectably knocking down pins though, and Dasha was very politely nudging her ball down the alley too. My real prowess is apparently in devouring bacon and blue cheese burgers :)

Road run 32:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Running to work in the morning. The snow today was such a consistency that it felt like running on the beach. I've been wearing my GoLite shoes in the snow which has been pretty nice. They hold up really well to the snow and don't slip, but they do feel a bit heavier. Not easy to wake up early after 3 days of excessive sleeping.

Road run 43:00 [4] 4.75 mi (9:03 / mi)

Hmm, an attempt at a Hill workout. I was struggling a lot so I cut it short. Heading out the door I felt a little weary, and running in the cold air really burns the lungs a bit huh? how do the skiers put up with that? My times are really slow for what I'm used to but part of that is the conditions of the roads and wearing heavier shoes doesn't help either. I'd say that even so, I wasn't running quite as well as I should have been. Glad that I got out the door, but early bedtime tonight and lots of fluids in case the feeling of being tired is an indicator of looming sickness.
