Note

Traverse was a success, though not an unmitigated one. We had our share of little mistakes, and then some, but people seemed happy afterward. The weather was gorgeous and the controls were all in the right places.

I spent the day picking up the maps from kinko's, setting out water, arranging the start finish and then running the Rec courses and the traverse finish. 46 starts on Rec course, thanks to Mike, Andy, Pia, Mark, and Jim for helping out with the event!

71 starts on the traverse, which is more than I recall in recent memory. 64 finishers, one mispunch, and also Ian pre-ran the course turning on all of the boxes. CSU win with Boris in the lead!

orienteering 1:30:00 [3] 6.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Setting out controls with Sam and Jeff in the rain for the Traverse. Sam dropped me off at the Rt 28 crossing and I did a short loop to set 1-3, and then grabbed the next set of stands and set 4-7.

What a gorgeous way to go running. The woods were so clear and clean where I was running, and the rain and wet were actually quite pleasant once I got started.

I cruised across the map to the Trailside museum parking lot to meet Sam and get a ride home. We decided to skip out on checking the start location, which was a mistake in retrospect.

Distance and time are guesses.

biking 35:00 [3] 8.0 mi (4:22 / mi)

I just biked to and from work today. The work day was incredibly busy and I felt uber productive... but then I got trapped at work because I started a long project that I needed to finish. So it was after 8pm when I left. We had a lab party earlier in the evening and my go-to recipe of peanut-butter frosted brownies was well received.

biking 35:00 [3] 8.0 mi (4:22 / mi)

Tough to go to work on a day when Sam gets to sleep in. I stopped a few times on the way home to pick up stuff for Jeff's birthday (wow, 60!) and then drove over to have dinner and play games.

I lead the orange team to glorious victory in Settlers before eating a large fraction of the birthday cake :)

biking 35:00 [3] 8.0 mi (4:22 / mi)

biking to and from work. I think this was an early work day, which is why biking was required. backlogging is tough. I do want to choose running whenever possible.
