orienteering

set controls for my class, and then picked some of them back up again. Grafton lakes. Beautiful out there today, and no one got lost. good times.

Road run 49:20 [4] 7.5 mi (6:35 / mi)

after orienteering today went to practice, ran stone hill by myself, a very hot run, and I was kinda tired I will admit, but think I kept good pace. after wednesday practice we generally do a few exercises in a circuit type arrangement.

pool 40:00 [3]

pool workout warm up, wall kicks, 6x 1 minute aqua jogging. 4x1 minute aqua jogging, and then 20 mins of water polo or so. I was on team estrogen, and we beat team testosterone in a very close match.

Road run 15:47 [5] 2.8 mi (5:38 / mi)

Run for the Cure. Nice sunny day, lots of people out for the cause, I kept behind last years winner until halfway up the biggest hill, where he slowed down to let me pass. I did so hesitantly knowing that he was supposed to beat me. And sure enough he zipped past me on the way down the other side. I finished 2nd, about 20 meters behind 1st. Felt great though, and leonard ran it too :) yay

Track (Steeple) 10:07 [5] 3.0 km (3:22 / km)

rainy warm and NESCAC conference meet. 16 runners, and I was seeded 5th. My plan was to calm down and run 80 and 81's and then bring it home after that. I kept this goal more realistically this week, and let the pack string itself out as far as it wanted, I started reeling them back in after the first 3 laps, kept my head and got into 6th, just behind two midd guys. I was 5th with 800 to go, and the guy ahead of me was tired and looking back at me, I felt wonderful so I picked it up and passed him at the last water pit. he was too tired to keep good form I guess. I had pretty good hurdles, and a nice kick. Winner was 9:41 I think, and I was pretty far off 3rd, 4th is respectable, but I get one more chance at this I think.

Road run 1:05:00 [4] 9.0 mi (7:13 / mi)

long hilly run, straight uphill for like 5 miles, flat, and then back down. I tried to keep up with caroline, but she's wicked fast, and she was doing more than me, but I did see a porcupine and that was cool

Track (Steeple) 10:11 [5] 3.0 km (3:24 / km)

I started a little fast, matt and neal were crusing along, and I was trying to ignore them and managed to pretty well but aiming for 82 per lap and my first couple laps were 77-79. I settled down and Mike from amherst hurt his knee, so I moved up to 4th place. I finished with a strong kick, and a PR of 12 seconds faster than my best last year. my water jumps were good, but my hurdles need work.
