Jogging warm up/down 10:00 [1] 0.8 mi (12:30 / mi) +25m 11:24 / mi
shoes: WhiteSpikes12

Orienteering race (middle) 47:05 [4] *** 4.8 km (9:49 / km)
spiked:18/16c shoes: WhiteSpikes12

Told myself that with my injury I would need a technically perfect run to be in contention, and that was what would have done it. As it was, I had about 1.5mins mistakes. Two big mistakes were both lapses in concentration:
C3 somehow got low into the next reentrant and had to climb back up (30s);
C10 missed the line and the ditch and was headed into the next reentrant (30s). The rest were smaller: C7 there was a bag which I knew couldn't be mine, but I went to make sure (10s); C8 contoured around looking down for a big tree, slowed down because I couldn't see one, saw the water first (10s); C16 bad line should have gone straight, but I thought it was too wet (5s).
Ducttaped leg felt OK until I tried to sprint at the end.

Orienteering 45:00 [1] 2.5 mi (18:00 / mi)

Went back out to look for a "lost" runner who had been out for 3.5 h; probably wasn't lost..just looking for a cell phone (a big samsung).
Picked up 5 controls and some garbage.

Orienteering warm up/down 15:00 [2] *** 1.3 mi (11:32 / mi)
spiked:4/4c

In the practice area,

Orienteering race (long) 1:15:13 [5] *** 7.4 km (10:10 / km)
spiked:12/14c

Two mistakes: both in the control circle: C5 after flawless execution of the long leg, couldn' find the control (had to drop down) (1min); C7 similar ..went all around the little hill wondering why I couldn't see the bag (1min). I saw 7-8 was a sprint and took off but had to shut it down after pulling my hamstring sprinting through the parking lot. 8-9 was very painful, it got better, but ending was rough.

Orienteering (control pickup) 1:00:00 [1] 2.0 mi (30:00 / mi)

6 controls .. keeping an eye for missing runner.

Orienteering warm up/down 15:00 [1] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: WhiteSpikes12

Orienteering race (middle) 47:31 [4] *** 4.3 km (11:03 / km)
spiked:16/18c shoes: WhiteSpikes12

Only had time to read the first line of the course notes: "all maps are 1:10000". Overran the first 6 controls, until I forced myself to read what by that time I knew: 1:7500. Big mistakes were C5 ran off the map (1.5min), C6 overran to ditch halfway to C7 (30s), C16 bad line and hesitation near the end (30s), C18 wasted time wondering why my Go control wasn't 99 (20s).
