not mentally present on control #1; otherwise just "usual" mistakes. e.g. I just could not locate the one by the shore near the beer control, and I thought I went straight off the end of the green in the field .. . .

this was a spur of the moment opportunity to run a 5k. M's school was dedicating a new cross country course and opening a new official Montgomery county trail along northwest branch. She needed to be on-hand to serve as a course marshal/school "ambassador" so I brought her up there. Several state senators and county officials were there for the trail's opening, so this was apparently a big deal. Apparently today is also National Trail Day. To celebrate the ribbon-cutting, the high school's CC team ran a 5k on the trail, and they offered for anyone else to run for free. I wasn't going to do it, but by signing up I got a ticket for a raffle for some North Face stuff and a Pacers gift certificate. Don't know when they were going to do the drawing (or how) though. Saw Mark W. from QOC at this, who also has a kid in this high school.

I felt I ran at about 85% of max. effort.
