A mix of activities during beginner training. This year we only ended up with a handful of beginner trainees (was told there would be 9 but there were more like 12-14 people including one guy with a small boy who were more tagging along than actually participating.)
Instead of rotating them between activities and having each trainer repeat the same activity 4 times, we taught the entire group together which was actually a nice change of pace.
So this includes walking and running through the pace count exercise (on the flat road and up and down hill in the woods) and doing map walk in the afternoon (which I set up more like a very short course this year) plus helping with the map symbol relay and map orienting/compass exercise.
Got volunteers to pick up the star course controls except for one, which I lazily drove to in the car. By that point it was also raining. For the first time in many years I decided not to go out on Night-O (I also somehow didn't make it onto the start list despite requesting an Intermediate map. But there would have been enough extra if I had decided to go.)
