DVOA Hickory Run Night-O - Intermediate

Pretty straightforward. But the map printing was bad and I sometimes had to stop to read it well. Stuck to safe routes. I saw the course heading down one trail that used to dead-end in rhododendron, causing some poor night-o experiences about 10 years ago, but the park has cleared that out and it's now very nice and wide. You could see the old stumps in the middle of the trail where it used to be overgrown.

DVOA Mt Penn Antietam - Green

A little out of shape, and a little stupid ;-) I was taking pretty conservative routes, which worked out ok most of the time. The area around 3 and 7 was what got me. Every time I got in there I got turned around and confused by the rock and many unmapped bike trails (and the indistinct mapped trails being mostly gone). I was ready to bail and reattack 7 (after probably circling right around it!) when I encountered a pit near rock and decided to check NE of the rock, and there it was. Getting out of there to 8 was also not very fun.

Other anomaly: took the road to 6, and encountered a new unmapped trail right before the control when attacking from that angle. But I could see the bag from there.

Tried to hustle in from 9 in order to finish under 1:30, but that was not to be.
