Travel back. Legs feeling tired but not sore, however left ankle v stiff and left foot v sore. Not uncommon after a long run but worse than usual, a bit surprising as quite a bit of yesterday was softish ground.

Trotternish Ridge Race
Epic day out with the whole ridge in thick clag with 10-20m visibility. Lots of nav required. Managed to do most of it okay and take advantage of all the troubles others were having up there, no real idea where I was in the race (maybe about 25th early on) so was surprised and pleased to find myself 8th at the finish :)

Only 52 starters (race limit/entries was 75) and 44 finishers. Jase 15th 4hrs17, Gary 21st 4hrs29.

Travel to Portree. Thought about doing a jog on arrival but travel took forever so only arrived just in time for dinner.

STAG evening event at Cumbernauld Community Park (with the angel statue that overlooks the M80).

Didn’t even know until a few days ago that this area was mapped, and thought it looked quite unpromising and likely to have lots of summer vegetation.

After a 25min delay on the M80 in the pouring rain, my enthusiasm was even lower when I arrived to find that the long course had taken Paul Hammond an hour...so much for my idea of a gentle 35-40min run round to recover from yesterday...

So all in all it was a very pleasant surprise to find a decently challenging course in a varied area with plenty of runnable forest and virtually all the semi-open perfectly runnable with little bad undergrowth. Some bits of contour and rock detail too.

Ran round very steadily with a couple of wobbles (map was 1:5000 reduced to 1:7500 so in dodgy light was hard to read). But most enjoyable and a very surprising new area less than 30mins from Stirling...nice work Terry!

Ben Ledi from Callendar, back down via the ridge then Stank Glen, then back to Callendar.

Much better conditions than when I ran up a couple of months ago in the snow and freezing wind, warm and pleasant today plus the cloud was nice and high so the mountain views around me were very clear :)

Last meaningful climb into the legs before Saturday’s fun.
