FVO night series, King’s Park

Gaffled from #2 and Jamie S disappeared soon after, leaving me/Andy L/Fraser/Brad in a good old battle together. No need to go to Angela’s trail race tonight if I was going to have to run this hard anyway!

Lead changed hands quite a few times before Andy made a bit of a break on the steep climb back up to the golf course from #19 to #20. Order stayed that way (Andy-Fraser-me-Brad) for a hard race right back across the golf course and to the finish....but it turns out that chasing Andy hard up the climb wasn’t the best strategy as we all punched the Orange control (boulder on spur) at the top of the hill at #20 rather than the correct one (path by re-entrant). Checked most of the codes around the golf course but but it never occurred to me there may be more than one flag in that part of the map, d’oh!

Ho hum, still a v enjoyable race round and nice to get a good hard effort in.

TAY Xmas Score, St Magdalene’s Hill.

Only been here once before, hanging/collecting for GG, Spongey and Kris in the dark and snow in the winter prep pre WOC2015. The map was a shocker then (as was the weather) but both much improved today with a new Shminty map....although the fiddly middle bit was hard to read with circles/codes/point values all crammed in too.

Had a fairly okay run round and got them all wth five mins to spare, couldn’t find the roving Santa though...only to discover Santa had retired from the field of play early to run download!

2nd place behind Andrew Lindsay. Fun day out with meal/quiz afterwards.

Masterplan Adventure event at Gleneagles Estate.

Ran at the end after manning the start, took a while to warm up. Max of rough open and mixed woodland (quite reminiscent of rough southern army terrain, Woolmer or similar). Enjoyed it, a couple of wobble, biggest at #10 when I strayed way off line to the right in the vague stuff and lost 1-2mins.

About 6-7mins behind Godders and Lewis, Oleg notably quicker but mp.
